Wiggins Discussion thread.

I know this is the Wiggins discussion thread but it has been totally taken over by infatuated Wiggins' fans.

You cannot run a team of any sort, be it in business, sport or the girl guides when your two principals are more focused on doing each other down than achieving the goal.

Wiggins with his regular childish tantrums interspersed with offish, snide comments and uncooperative behaviour every time he has ridden with Froome has made it plain that the only team he (Wiggins) can ride on is one where everybody else bends to his will and what he wants. He is a typical only child.

The individual pursuit and time trialling are the perfect events for him. No need to work in a team, just him and the coaches, everybody involved pulling for Brad.

He gave Brailsford no choice. "Sir Dave" would have been crazy to pick him. I don't know what you are all whining about. You must have no management experience.

But most importantly there is a cobbled stage in this tour. last time there was a cobbled stage in a tour, the team with an experienced cobbled rider rode away with there gc rider on there wheel. Obviously wiggins is no fabian but still but he has proven that he can ride cobbles and rode the group with Thomas, boonen and someone else back to the front of the race. that could be vital for froome.

Geraint Thomas is at least as good as Wiggins over the cobbles and has always slaved away loyally doing whatever the team tells him to do.

Froome is a coward. Contador handled LA in his team while everyone was against AC.

Just shows the difference in class.

I feel sorry for Wiggins, he doesn't really deserve this. He honestly didn't do anything wrong 2 years ago. If someone is to blaim it's Brailsford or Froome.

Lol what a complete load of rubbish

Clearly it would not be as tranquillo in the team bus or hotel with Wiggo around. But I would bet having peace and harmony, golden butterflies etc will not be enough to win it for Sky. Roche won the Giro in 87 in an atmosphere of savage rancour for the entire three weeks. It cant always be placid.
I bet not all the Real Madrid players get along well or at all. Ancellotti couldn't give a flyer as long as they get the job done.

come on guys is this really such a surprise that BW is not on the team , it certainly is not to me . he is a legend of british cycling and has an ego to match , he is not going to be a workhorse for froome or anybody else for that matter .

they pulled out a phantom injury last year if my memory is correct so he did not have to demean himself to ride for CF and its the same thing this year with a different excuse .

for reasons we wont know there is a lot of bitterness between the two riders but we are now in the froome era and im sure chris has a very big say on whos on or off the team and BW being left behind was something i saw coming from a mile away .

You guys are ridiculous. Wiggins said all that needs to be said in that interview. It was completely honest. The looney ulterior motives you try to make up are just pathetic. Froome won the tour easily last year without wiggins and he'll probably do it again and all this stuff will be completely forgotten in a couple of months

Just because its possible to still succeed in a bad situation doesnt mean its in any way disirable. Why dont u list every team that failed due to internal disagreements and tension? It would be a very long list

the difference in class will be obvious in july in froome favour

its a very important stage tho. why not have them both?

the last time the cobbles were used the front group(6 riders) came in 53 seconds ahead of the second group (6 riders). and 1min 46 seconds ahead of the third group (8 riders).

so if contador finishes 53seconds ahead of froome all he will have to do for the rest of the tour is follow his wheel.

so ill repeat this could be the most important stage of the tour. why not have both?

Sir Dave lost the "dressing room" some time ago. Its obvious for anybody with a tiny bit of management experience.

A strong manager could have resolved this long ago.

It seems a slightly ridiculous thing to say but I think Wiggins lining up for a GB start in Yorkshire would generate more publicity for Sky in Britain than a Froome win in Paris. Of course Sky could have had both. I'd be pretty ****ed off if I was a Sky executive.

If England make the quarters it won't be a big deal. At the presentation All foreign cyclists will probably be asked about how their national football team is doing probably, like in Rotterdam 4 years back.

Froome hates Wiggins because he didn't let him go for personal opportunities, Froome doesnt want to be a complete hypocrite so allows Wiggins to do the Tour....oh wait. Froome's true colours shining through!

Everyone seems to forget that Wiggins didn't pay froome his share of the prize money. He was in power and didn't do right by froome.

Now froome is in power. It comes to bite Wiggins back in the ***.

Reap what you sow. Maybe Wiggins can learn from this and treat people with more respect in the future. A man learns best when he gets burnt.

Too many people forget that Wiggins was in yellow in 2012 and Froome went against team orders and attacked him.

As for the prize money. My understanding is that Froome was paid his share of the prize money it was the share of Wiggo's bonus that wasn't paid.

This +100000. Even last year when it was Wiggins turn to let froome have his shot at the tour after froome slaved for him in 2012, he tried to backdoor froome through the media and position himself as the leader. Froome never did that to Wiggins in 2012.

Didn't Wiggins also refuse to work at the world's even as he promised to ride for froome?

Maybe wiggins would be a great asset this time. But froome showed last year he can win this thing on one leg. He doesn't need a team. And he has plenty of precedent to distrust Wiggins. Brailsford always gets lauded in the briy media as someone who is 100% commited to winning and NOTHING else. His interest is in creating a sky tdf dynasty not in no sponsor boost. If his leader says the piece of mind of not having Wiggins there is important to him. Brailsford goes along with that. Because he wants to win.

No one forgets, it gets mentioned every day. And blown way out of proportion.
After being nothing less than a slave for Wiggins and doing everything Wiggins bid him for 2 weeks, sacrificing his own chance at winning the most important tour De France a brit could ever possibly hope for. He rides away, comes back and continues to work for Wiggins.

Even gives up a stage win on stage 19 when there's 2 k to go, simply because Wiggins wanted to show who was the boss
It would have done Wiggins who had the gc sown up, no harm to let froome go up the road and take the stage, and give froome some happiness. But hey, he had to be a **** about it.

Wiggins uses that tour as justification to burn froome? Jeez. No wonder froome doesn't want the megalomaniac on the team now that he has a say.

Is there a chance Sky may get booed at the team presentation? Probably not but that would be hilarious! :D

Sky? No. Froome? Quite possibly.

For a supposedly shy man with a lack of emotional skills, Wiggins's very good at this PR when he puts his mind to it.
