I might be the only Nibs fan not minding Wiggo's attitude.
His riding style is indeed boring, but his antics makes the whole thing more entertaining.

All in alla I don't get all the buzz about some very mild trashtalking. This stuff happens all the time in other sports. It's part of the game. It doesn't mean the riders don't respect each other.

Yes Riis got lucky there, but Wiggo is the better ITTer here

Lucky:confused:

Also: Before the last tt in the '96 TdF I think most people would consider Riis the better tt'ist compared to Ullrich.

Well said, I love Nibali but if you're going to have a go at someone in the press then you should be able to handle something as mild as this when that person proves you wrong. It's all a bit of fun and makes the sport more interesting.

You are definitely not the only Nibali fan who doesn't mind.

I too love the Shark, but that doesn't blind me to the fact that he's an inveterate player of mindgames.

I don't think I've ever heard him comment on an other rider, without "damning with faint praise"

Nibs is a first class sh*t-stirrer, who is not the least bit bothered by Wiggins looking at him.

I never really paid much attention to Wiggins prior to this year, at least not his personality. Has he always been this much of a jerk, or is it just now that he's in yellow he thinks he's a big dog and can treat people poorly? It's getting a little out of hand now I think.

To use your term, Wiggins has always been a bit of a 'jerk', but I'm pretty convinced that most of that behaviour is rooted in emotional insecurity rather than arrogance.

His behaviour has annoyed me for years, but I can't help feeling that he's currently quite justified in believing that his performance on the road is not being treated with the respect it deserves.

I am a Nibali fan, but he is not a physical match for Wiggins. Cadel is possibly the only man in the race who is that. On the other hand, Nibali has both courage and guile in abundance.

Wiggins was definitely the favorite coming into the tour this year. Cadel is strong but I'm not sure he'll be able to match him right now. Not unless he can recover his ITT form. Nibali has indeed always been second fiddle when compared to a lot of the other GC riders. However, his descending ability is nearly unrivaled. It's an area of weakness for Wiggins comparatively. Unfortunately, it's also nearly impossible to sustain any gaps on a descent because the riders just catch right up to you when it flattens out.

I can see how Wiggins would mistreat Nibali a bit, especially after his trash talk in the press, but Wiggins definitely isn't doing things that garner respect by lashing out at fans and being an ornery muppet, that's for sure. Would be nice if he'd grow up though.

It's more because he's now winning, he's getting more press coverage and now more people are in tears about it.

Maybe if they didn't ride so much like US Postal people wouldn't be quite as nervous about them as they are. Just sayin'. :p

I don't blame Wiggo for "blowing up" at the blogger/journalist.
He has been very patient with portions of the press and public
that don't realize the training, skill, dedication, team-work
and talent it takes to ride a 3:53 team pursuit or to win
three gold medals at one World Track Championship.
For four years nay-sayers have been dismissing his chances
of finishing on the podium of a Grand Tour and trying to
diminish his accomplishments on the track (including many,
many posters on this forum). It is a simple fact that he was
a great track rider and now is on the verge of becoming a
very, very good stage racer and when people start
showing him and his accomplishments some respect, then
and only then, should they expect Wiggo to show them
some respect in return.

Total BS. Wiggins needs to be prepared to answer the questions he is getting. Any yellow jersey wearer does.

It is not like everyone is making fun of him or accusing him on Twitter. I think his little outbursts make him a whole lot less likable.
