If he wins it, then he would next year expected to come back to defend it ( at least many people think that after their reaction to when he said he might not do Tour in November).

I take word patron, as you won the race and you'll come back defending it.

I don't really believe that, however many as I said I think do.

lol, Sir Wiggo, Le Patron.
Perhaps after the double.

Has El_P been banned?

I was waiting for his lecture on the historical meaning of the term patron.

Looking up the word "Patron" in the dictionary so he can write the essay ;)

pisti hasn't been banned, but people that mock a poster that isn't even participating on a discussion just because they feel like it certainly could.

As far as I remember ( there hasn't been many "patrons" lately. The term designate one whose winnings, influences over others, and boss like personality make them dictate to the peleton on and off the bike. As you can see , not many riders fit the bill in modern cycling.. So the term may be outdated and certainly can't apply to Wigggins.

The person closest to being considered patron I believe would be Fabian.

A patron in that he slows down the peloton when Schlecklets crash then drives the pace on when others crash.

Exactly. Didn't say he was fair, just that the peloton obeys him. ;)

Yeah, well they weren't the only ones that crashed, a real patron is a dude who decides the peloton will be taking it easy because he thinks it's the best thing to do/feels like it...the last one who did that would be Hinault (see the Pellier incident).

Yes. indeed. We have to wait and see. Maybe if Wiggo adds the double in '13 to his palmares. The peloton will decide.

Cipo did it on the flat stages fairly regularly. One has to the force of personality, charisma, palmares, a strong team all combined with the desire to take on that role.

Really? On the Tour? Can't really remember that to be honest, or in stages that didn't matter and that were going to be a sprinter snoozefest mayb? A patron would have to be from a team in a GC winning position, if not it's not for real ;-)

Life would be poor without it.

We are talking two trains killing all action in May and July in the same year. Man, I will be fit this year.

Best get those intervals up Teide in now bud. When Bertie and Andy let their boys off the leash in July and Nibs his in May, the choo choo train will be blowing smoke:)

Are there enough cycling fans to take on Sky land? I doubt it.

Oh there are plenty. Sky land is a Utopia that many on here worship with impunity.

You haven't noticed he's always deliberately vague about things he knows perfectly well as part of his social interaction coping mechanism?
