I'd agree that that's the time to really start to worry, if he's losing 2 minutes to Cancellara or Martin or the like. But still, it is concerning that all the other big GC riders are up there challenging and he's nowhere. As I understand it he's only got Catalunya and Trentino stage races before the Giro.

Are there any serious TTs before the Giro?
It will be impossible to judge anything from a 9km TT.

You could argue whether there are any serious stage races before the Giro. In the end it's all practice, isn't it?

Somehow, I think there's no need to worry.
He's not in Schleck's position (that's worrying), and Brailsford proved he knows what he's doing.

Yep, I think Wiggins will be fine. Going to Tenerife on a training camp shortly and will be ready to go. Can't see a proper TT test before the Giro, so perhaps we can assume he turns up in a similar form as Froome when the game is on.

Was he really trying to be up there and hang with them though? He did lose 1:21 on the first day, so he really didn't have much insensitive to try to stay with the GC Contenders (other than to help Froome).

Im sure he said he was only going to Oman to help Froome on the flat and get some miles in his legs. On the short Eurosport highlights it has shown he has been doing some work on the front of the bunch. He doesn't seem bothered with the GC

Don't worry with him, he knows what he is doing
He probably knows more about training and how to prepare 100% for a race than any other rider

Odd that groomed is flying yet his objective is in may. Wiggo looks way to heavy for a GT in may that he wants to win.

Wiggins cites training fatigue as the reason for his mediocre performance in Oman (the only member of their Giro squad who didn't look mediocre was Porte).

He says he weighed 82kg in the off season, currently weighs 75kg and wants to be 70kg at the Tour. I wonder what he wants to weigh by the start of the Giro? Can he lose 5kg in two months? Tenerife will be vital no doubt.

He said it would be hard to lose the weight but I'm guessing he can pull it off....

Edited for accuracy - your selection of tense was not only grammatically awkward, but it completely changed the meaning of what was said.

Something can be hard to do, such that it might not happen, or hard to do, such that its inevitable achievement requires significant effort.

And oh, it will require some significant effort.

LMAO.

I thought he just stayed at 96% all year?

I think that what Wiggins is doing this season should be applauded. He already kinda did it all last season, so instead of returning to P-N, Romandie, Dauphne and the Tour, he is finding new objectives. If he goes to any of those events and doesn't win - even if he rides well - it will be viewed by the masses as failure. Also, having the reigning TDF champion CHOOSE to focus on the Giro is massive for the sport of cycling, and in particular the second biggest of the grand tours. Many will take note of the race who have never done so before, solely because Wiggins is in it and focusing on it, and it could lead to many TDF fans becoming wider fans of road cycling. This is different to when Contador rode it in 2011, because we know he rode it because he wasn't sure if he would be allowed to ride the TDF. So what Bradley is doing is something out of the box and should be respected. Let's try to win LBL while I'm at it; that's a great attitude! And with these targets it may leave him open to give the Vuelta a go later in the year (depending on how hard is has to work for Froome at the Tour).

Rider X: "I'll go to Y on a training camp."
Default Clinic response: *mischievous laugh*.

Not to burst the bubble, but to have a decent altitude training in March/April you don't have much choice but to go to the Canary Islands.

Anyway, an off season weight of 82 kgs, and a racing weight of 70 kgs, that's approaching Ulrich dimensions ;)

Wiggo is so full of Sh!t
Sky's main core is currently in good shape- just check out the results of Froome, Porte, Uran & Henao -even everyone in between is doing well- but he just suddenly is a fVck!ng overweight cow with 12 kilos to deal with.....

Only 5 left if he's dealt with 7 already...

Maybe the others weren't partying like he was last year. He seems to be fit and is reporting better numbers than this time last year apparently so if he can shift the extra weight he should be in good shape for May.

do you know why I like Wiggins? because of his haters

I think that if Purito, or Nibali, or Hesjedal won those 4 races in 1 year (P-N, Romandie, Dauphiné, Tour) ah, and an olympic gold medal, people would be praising them a lot

instead Wiggo gets the **** from everybody

Not really.

Wiggins had massively hard training camp in Mallorca, maltiv said many people fro mthe camp said it was almost as hard as GT. Only Wiggins and few others rode the whole camp, Froome, Henao weren't present for all of it hence in different shape.
