I think that what Wiggins is doing this season should be applauded. He already kinda did it all last season, so instead of returning to P-N, Romandie, Dauphne and the Tour, he is finding new objectives. If he goes to any of those events and doesn't win - even if he rides well - it will be viewed by the masses as failure. Also, having the reigning TDF champion CHOOSE to focus on the Giro is massive for the sport of cycling, and in particular the second biggest of the grand tours. Many will take note of the race who have never done so before, solely because Wiggins is in it and focusing on it, and it could lead to many TDF fans becoming wider fans of road cycling. This is different to when Contador rode it in 2011, because we know he rode it because he wasn't sure if he would be allowed to ride the TDF. So what Bradley is doing is something out of the box and should be respected. Let's try to win LBL while I'm at it; that's a great attitude! And with these targets it may leave him open to give the Vuelta a go later in the year (depending on how hard is has to work for Froome at the Tour).
Well, when you put it that way it sounds really noble and generous towards the Giro. But, in fact, it isn't.
Who follows cycling knows very well what the Giro is. Who follows Wiggo - just follows Wiggo, and doesn't care that much for particular races.
Noble gesture would have been to target the Tour again, to defend the title against the field which lacked last year and on a route which isn't, exactly, tailor made for him.
There's nothing wrong with new objectives, but winning the Tour carries more than just personal satisfaction. Especially if it's won in last year's circumstances.

Are you a Wiggins supporter now too?

No, I just see the difference bewteen spectacular and effective riding. People vote for Nibali because they prefer spectacular racing and I can understand this. I don't see any of them has arguments, but 'Wiggins will never be like he was in the TdF"

Dear LaFlo, Hitch and others, if one asks me who I support, I'll politely reply. But until this happens stop guessing and speculating on this matter. I was saying I hope for an intrigue. It eloquently says about neutral preferences.

Wiggins cites training fatigue as the reason for his mediocre performance in Oman (the only member of their Giro squad who didn't look mediocre was Porte).

He says he weighed 82kg in the off season, currently weighs 75kg and wants to be 70kg at the Tour. I wonder what he wants to weigh by the start of the Giro? Can he lose 5kg in two months? Tenerife will be vital no doubt.
Lol 82 kg? So he's saying he's at Hushovd weight in the off-season? Holy ****.

just like much of his words,he's exaggerating. i don't believe he was 82 in the off season and probably he isn't 75 now. to me he looks very, very fit. tired but fit

Not really.

Wiggins had massively hard training camp in Mallorca, maltiv said many people fro mthe camp said it was almost as hard as GT. Only Wiggins and few others rode the whole camp, Froome, Henao weren't present for all of it hence in different shape.

Plus it made more sense for him to ride for Froome after he lost 90 odd seconds on the first stage. Porte also rode well for Froome and did his job well as usual.

Indeed, none of the guys who has been in the entire Mallorca-camp has performed at all yet (Froome, G and Henao were only there for a short time).

So you would find it noble for Sir BMW to go back on his
pledge to support Froome in this year's Tour? Interesting.
Very interesting how some define 'noble'.

“Hello, Brad,” VeloNews greeted him. “Good to see you,” he replied. After a second passed, he turned around and said, “It’s Sir Brad.”

What an arrogant man. I wonder how his teammates cope with his ego.

He was doing it to be funny. He wasn't doing it to come across as arrogant. You may not get the humour and tbh it is debatable whether it is funny but it certainly was intended as a joke. That is just Wiggins for you..
