Depends on how he feels after the Giro, they'll probably do it like this year, with Wiggo riding just behind Froome to prevent any accidents coming from behind and do a bit of pulling when there's only the two of them. I still can't believe all that "Froome pulled Wiggo up the mountains" crap when he must have led him for a grand total of 12/15 km during the entire tour...anyway with Froome the designated leader we'll know what he's capable of. I like the guy but I have my doubts...

On the other hand, barring any accidents it's hard to see how Wiggo could lose the Giro.

I doubt Nibali will be 6 minutes behind Wiggins again at the Giro. Firstly Nibali should be supported far better at Astana during the Giro than he was this year with Liquigas at the Tour where most of his support came from an exhausted Basso. Plus there will be a lot more technical descents for Nibali to take advantage of.

Possibly, but he doesn't need 6 minutes, 1 is enough, in fact 10 seconds are enough ;-) If they have the same form as at this year's TDF, and that's certainly not a given, it's hard to imagine Nibali being able to make up the time he'll lose in the ITTs though.

scarponi is not better than wiggo. never was
and the numbers and the reality also says nibali too is under wiggins and will be crushed. maybe at astana he will improve even more, that is a possibility.

i do believe though that the biggest rival for wiggins will be pellizotti, he will come full of anger to take what should have been his(2010 giro)
it will definitely be an interesting race

and i still don't believe wiggo will race the tour at all. he will go for la vuelta, you will see.

How Sky should split the team. Where they send their better helpers, above the rest, EBH, Rogers and Porte.

Brailsford can give us a hint about who is the main rider of the team.

There is a chance Sky send a stronger team to italy. (Wiggo needs more help at climbs)

Pellizotti probably hasn't touched a time-trial bike in the last few years and he was already a terrible TTer.

No chance.

On the climbs of the Giro Wiggins will get shelled, no question about it. He might make the podium but he ain't gonna win.

Are Porte and Rodgers really Sky's best helpers on the climbs? surely the Colombians are just as useful, if not more so during steep stuff, and based on what Sky does with riders we can probably expect Cataldo to be shredding people mercilessly next year. I think Dombrowski could be huge too.

Isn't that what everyone said about Ryder Hesjedal?

Wiggins require a tempo and Porte and Rodgers showed they were the right people to do it. I bet Cataldo, Sitvsov and Kiryienka will go with Bradley. And Froome will get a lesser platoon

“I am probably going to concentrate on the Giro next year, because for me it is the only other race on the cycling calendar – along with Paris-Roubaix – that is up there with the Tour de France in terms of historicalness, It is just beautiful. I’d love to win that pink jersey as well as the yellow.”

Surely even the Wiggins haters on this forum cant find fault in that..........

Different route, different teams, different race, different competitors. Just because Wiggins beat Nibali by a lot in a tour that was tailor made to suit him, does not mean he can do it again at the Giro.

The Giro will be in Nibali's home country, he will have a better team around him, The amount of TT km will suit Wiggins but this route also has more mtf than the tour had, the competition will be different to that of the tour, and the Giro is a different race.

Saying Wiggins can beat Nibali at the Giro at this point is premature. A lot can happen between now and then.

Weak. Wiggins afraid of Contador.

He still won't win the Giro. Scarponi > Wiggins.

Maybe a couple years ago, yes, but not anymore. Scarponi is past his prime.

I can!

Only the giro and roubaix compare with the prestige of the tour! What about Flanders, Lombardia, LBL, the world championships. Come on Wiggo!

:D

Good, those guys need experience. It'll be an upgrade for them after last year's Giro. :(

they don't need experience as helpers. but as guys leading a team in the gt. not uran but henao should be. henao is a natural leader. I can't imagine how much better he should be next year after such an amazing first year being in the top 20 of the world tour already

exactly unlike contador I can't remember any tour winner winning the giro as well in recent memory and some have tried like evans. giro is something entirely different
