Bigg wigg avoids racing with Froome again.

Its a team strategy of having one more option in the TDF with the problems of Froome's back(if surgery required) and Contador's resurgence. Catalonia will give some indication.

They'd be better off pulling Porte from the Giro. His preparation for that isn't exactly going well anyway.

Switch Nieve and Porte if its not too late. Nieve isn't a good GC rider imo, but hes a wonderful climber. Could bag a big mountain win.

That wouldn't make any sense considering the altitude native's problems. Froome or Porte would need Nieve at the Tour.

Just write off the Giro. Most of the other teams do.

Vasil, Kennaugh and Porte in top form should be enough in the mountains imo.

Anyway can't argue the general Giro argument, sadly.

If Froome wasn't on the leash he would have won the 2012 TdF and the 2011 Vuelta.

If Wiggins have had his way he would've quit after Froome briefly pursued his own interests.

They won't do that. They want to see how Porte goes as team leader. I think it's too early to write off Porte. Quintana and Uran are not exactly setting the world on fire either. Still 5 or 6 weeks till the race. Maybe Rodriguez is the one flying under the radar this time.

I very much doubt that. He probably said words to that effect along with a few expletives in the heat of the moment but that's a world away from actually doing it!

According to whoever was the ds for Sky at that Tour, Wiggins had to be talked out of being a dns for that following stage.

Edit. Tablet changed "ds" to "decline" without my noticing!:(

Being talked out of not starting is still a world away from not starting though, isn't it? History records that he did, in fact, start the following day. . .

If Wiggins finishes today, I'll be surprised. If he is within 10 minutes of the winner, I will be very surprised. If he top 10's I will need to send my brain in for a reformat. Anything more than that, I will not survive the shock.

Do not fear, there will be no shocks.

Clearly some do ?

Good sign ahead of Roubaix though. Could maybe actually challenge, maybe. Top 10.

Ok. I just don't see why. He's just a packfilling domesqique now. It's like discussing where Maarten Wynants finished.

It wasn't that bad actually. If Wiggins had a bit more knowledge of the race and experience, this is a type of race he could have done well in.
