Bad news day for Wiggins.

Number 1 - confirmed not in the Tour team.

Number 2 - Might not even be the world's most famous Wiggins for too much longer.

Hi Hitch

Do you have a source ?

Cannot find anything on Sky website or anywhere else ??

The last time the Tour came to Britain it helped sow the seeds for what eventually became Team Sky. Everyone should be immensely proud of how far we've come and we can&#8217]this will mark the moment when Britain truly becomes a cycling nation[/B].

Then why take only 1 or 2 British Riders on team sky

I thought part of what team Sky was about was to help develope British riders

Really hoping Porte gets dropped like a stone on the first mountain stage and Froome gets mugged by Rogers, Roche and Kreutziger - two years ago I was cheering for the Froome dog to be let off the leash of the Sky train but since then he has revealed himself to be a sly and insecure man.

Im with you on that one, talk about vindictive. Fast forward to July!

Think there are a lot out there who feel the same way!

That'll be the only reason I'm watching the Tour this year.

Same. Anyone but Froome!

Blah blah. Froome will probably go and win the tour, his domestiques will do a good job and all this Wiggins crap will be quietly forgotten about...
You're right but this is the official "day of rage" for the Wiggins fanboys on here where they vent their fury at Team Sky and "Brailsford the back-stabber" and "tactical moron"

Nothing you say will change their minds. I explained about 100 pages ago why Wiggins wouldn't go to the Tour.

OK, fanboys, keep venting. :D

I'm not really a Sky fan or a Wiggins fan, but I do feel sorry for him.

He's a guy who won very recently and there are really only two riders who he could be on a team with that could force him off the Tour squad. Froome and Contador.

He happened to be on a team with one of them, and they decided to force him off. Kind of crappy not to see one of the better GC riders who wants to ride not in the race.

I do understand it from the Sky team perspective, but as a fan of the sport it's annoying.

Whether you like him or not...fans want, nay deserve all the best riders in the Tour and Wiggins is one of the best riders ...he won't beat Froome or Contaodr in the mountains but he is still good enough on cobbles, on flat , in TT and can climb well enough to be on any Tour team

What's more he is a Tour de France champion and in form.....can you imagine any other team leaving him out

And as for the argument about his role in the team....he has said he would ride for the team, he is better than most riders picked for SKY.

I don't believe any other team or leader would leave him out ...it makes no sense...the bad publicity alone and the anger of the fans

Sport stars can be difficult but they can be managed ....Riis , Vaughters, Vino...they would all include him and manage the situation

It smacks of Froome not wantign him and SKY bowing to their 'star'...Froome comes across as vindictive and scared TBH

i second to that. after 2012 showboating, now spat with BW. Now I know why I can't get my finger on this guy as far as to like him. July will be a festivity..:D

What ?! They could at least get their story straight...whatever way you look at it, it's a huge gamble for Brailsford, a 2011 accident can't be ruled out, especially with the cobbles, Porte's form has been shambolic...he really has everything to lose and not a lot to gain by snubbing Wiggins.

Reluctantly, in their defence I, expect Stannard would have been be riding, and Kennaugh is presumably ill? But completely agree about the exclusion of Wiggo

The whole thing has been a PR disaster for Sky and Froome. Will take a bit of a shine off The UK Tour for many I think

Remember going to see the Brighton stage in 1994. Trying to pick out Boardman and Yates. 20 years later, and this celebration of British cycling looks like having only two more UK riders, and that's only if include Froome as British.

Brailsford really doesnt seem to have any respect for the yellow jersey and people who have worn it - its like its a corporate asset that can be traded for a few million fat nodders wearing Sky jerseys.

He's been a loyal servant of British Cycling but its all leaving a bad taste, and its time for him to do one.

I believe Brailsford has lost control of the team. Fround appears to run proceedings and the UCI.

Anyway Froome could win of his own accord so it matters little.

Kennaugh was indeed ill. He just doesn't have the form, otherwise he would have been included of that I have no doubt.

Stannard is back on a bike for what 2 weeks now ?

You could make an argument for Swifty, he has been in form, but Bernie as road captain and cobbles guy wins the final place without much argument from me.

Then its just Josh Ed and Luke Rowe (well an JTL) both need a bit more development before coming to le Tour.

Millar, Cav, Thomas (and Froome)
Dowsett seems likely

Who knows who OGE may bring, but Adam Yates isn't beyond possibilities.

So there may be a couple more toeing the line yet.

I don't think it is with Brailsford. His team choices on the track were ruthless!

Denying Ho the champion, a ride in the Sprint in London.

Of course Kenny went and won gold, so it was a masterful decision. He would have been crucified in the press had he not done so.
