I think a 4 year deal is great for Wiggo, not so great for Sky. I can't see him consistently challenging Schleck and Contador over that period for the Maillot Jaune.

I'm more concerned about where this leaves Garmin. Will they just sit on their pot of cash until next year?

live now on sky sports news...

Db very happy, hes worked with brad for years, historic moment in british cycling and was obvious brad had to be a part of that...

brad asked coming home? brad says strange day, been going on for ages since paris, confirmed yesterday that he was good to go..

The bike looks sexy as hell bye the way...

brad said always difficult to leave garmin, had a great time there, lots of freinds, close relationships etc, and there was only ever one team he would leave garmin for and that was to sky, dave and everyone who helped him to olympic success..

on sky news now :D

Lövkvist? Looking at what he achieved in '08 and '09, why aren't you more concerned about the role of EBH ?

Why would he be concerned about the future of a Classics rider who can't climb just because the team signed a stage racer?

could you not tell us hes going to win something sooner than the vuelta.. i cant cope with 10 months of you saying hes going to win something..

why not the australian open championship, or the tour down under...? that way ive only got to wait a month to laugh at your poor predictions.. ;)

interesting. perhaps he will line up for the Oz championship TT?

Good to see the Wiggins to Sky transfer is now done and dusted. Four years, that takes them through to 2013. WOW!! Can BW last a whole 4 years on ONE team? Huge investment by Sky but I will be interested in his progress..

Would also be interested to see what VDV says in the coming weeks about this. He is the true leader at Garmin and would love to see him ride the Giro and Tour next year without disruption as a GC candidate again.

Are you happy about the transfer with the tour de france as brads goal?

Erm.. ask me after the Giro.. I honestly dont know, last year was brads first full year riding the road, and he came fourth... can he do better than that, probably, I think with the right work and support he can podium, and he is now surrounded by the right people, the people hes worked with since a kid.. the team gb physcologist and dietician etc have a big influence...
can he win the tour, doubtful, barring major incident.. can he podium, possibly... that said, contador falls off his bike and breaks a collarbone, and it could be the most wide open tour in years..

I beleive DB when he says a british winner in five years though.. ;)

• Brad Wiggins will make his debut for Team Sky in the Etoile de Bessèges in February

I'd probably respond the same way to that question with evans, i want to see how evans goes after the giro. have the cut from their usual programs to the press conference on sky.

id like to know what Garmin got from the deal for one thing. Anyone no?

rumour is about £2m... whatever it was, it was more than they paid for him and a nice healthy profit...

What a soap opera that was...

Wiggins to sky. Wiggins not to sky, Wiggins to sky, Wiggins not to sky..
And now finally, Wiggins to sky.

or....not???

thanks. i would of thought they would get some riders or something else than just money?
The 2 million rumour came from the Daily Mail, so as rumours go it is probably a little closer to complete fabrication than rumour.

This isn't soccer - there are rarely buy out clauses on contracts. Although I would assume that Garmin were offered something in return.
Sky had nothing to 'give' Garmin - as they are only a new team.
