If porte rides the tour at full force...That's really not good for the tour.

At least we'll have a laugh when he drops Froome :D

On the other hand it's good for the giro

How bad can a Italian national champion be?

Name me 5 good italian TT'ers these days?

And then look up how many of these guys did the ITT for the italian champ.

Don't get me wrong though, cataldo rides with the sky so he prob got way better

Who would you prefer as a Tour winner, Froome or Porte?

But it is. We may actually get a Hinault - LeMond situation again.

Wishful thinking, I know. It remains to be seen how well Porte handles "proper" mountain stages, of course.

You forgot about Sir. I rather admit the situation of Contador-Armstrong of 2009 for Froome and Wiggins. A peaceful situation, though.

If Porte is used by Sky as usual he can't beat Froome. Winning Paris - Nice is one thing but it's not a grand tour and the best riders were at Tirreno. Porte has improved and I doubt he will be at Sky next year somehow.

Looks like the Sky train that has derailed at Volta Catalunya, wil be bolstered only by Kiryienka and Henao for the Giro. Compared with Porte, Froome and Rogers for last years Tour? Could be a big difference in their ability to control the race, and Nibali in particular

I'm not sure I fully approve of your use of the term 'only' to describe one of the strongest all round riders in the world, and a guy who would likely be in the top 5 climbers at the Giro.

He will, his contract is till 2014. He already said he wants to lead Giro 2014 campaign for Sky...

Must compose my sentences better

Must compose my sen......

Guilty. The 'only' should really have been used to compare with the 2012 Tour Sky, particularly the mountain domestiques. In theory, they're not as strong so Nibali and others should have more chance to attack. That's probably what I meant

I thought Porte was going to the Giro? It's not really the 'A' train without him.

Henao will help although the Catalunya train definitely looks a bit on the weak side. It might even be deliberate, to get Wiggins out of his comfort zone, as training?

Yes but contracts get broken all the time it seems for a price. Porte might stay, it all depends on how much longer he wants to do the domestique duties. If Froome goes Porte will probably stay. That opens things up a bit.

Nibali in Tenerife

http://www.paolotiralongo.it/news.html

After a period of relaxation interspersed by constant and continuous training, The "Pull", is set to make back your bags and fly to Tenerife Mount Teide from 21/03 to 09/04. An internship in height away from his beloved Sicily, but in the company of: Nibali, Gasparotto, Aru, Vanotti, Kessiakoff and Agnoli. His next race of the season is the Giro del Trentino in Italy from 16/04 to 19/04. Good Job as always.

Must be crawling with pros there. Every Giro contender + domestiques go there.
