Lol.

There we have it. A guy tests positive but in the eyes of this fan he should still keep his titles. I heard it all now. Just another unapologetic Contador fan who tries to spin it by saying because others were doing it in past eras, it's OK for Contador doing it now.

wait a moment.. hypocrite. So what about merckx? anquetil?hinault? coppi? bartali?

if merckx sees himself as 11th time gt winner and you agree with that, then contador as every right to say what he wants.

he is the best. end of it.

I agree.

Just let Alberto be. If he (and his fans) wants to believe he's won 7, let him/them be. Just shrug it off. It's not like he cares about your opinion anyway. So why would you care about his.

Isn't that understandable? I mean, why would a fan think any different  We are his fans because we think that way. If we would think differently we'd hate him.

Because eventhough you can be a fan you can accept the ruling of the highest order in sports law? It isnt black and white; if you arent a fan you arent instantly 'a hater'.

I dont understand it at all.

As a fan you want him to keep his titles. If you don't you aren't a real fan.

You just don't understand Havy. If Gesink tests positive and gets his results stripped you will.

My favourite rider by far, Oscar Camenzind, tested positive for EPO just before the 2004 Olympics.

I was very pleased when he confessed immediately and decided to retire with some dignity.

Easy choice for him to make though, as he would have been too old upon his return. Nowadays you can be competitive at age 40 and beyond, but somehow that wasn't the case back then.

If he hadn't been clean all the way, he woudn't have gone that far with words.

Wow, you are the same person who started the Sky thread after the Dauphine and yet you are willing to defend AC based on his words! Wow, that is a big change in standards - btw, I'm not defending Sky. AC's attraction is based on his propensity to attack, his climbing style, a meek personality and up until now a man a few and uncontroversial words.

He's attacked his races regardless whether I thought he was more or less doped or on form or not. He deserves credit for that.

His climbing sytle is basically the same whether he's on form or not. Go look at the Galabier stage in last years Tour. Looked the same, just going much slower!

His personality has made him unoffensive to the media, fans, team mates and fellow competitors.

Until yesterday AC was very gracious to his fellow competitors. His comments sound just like Armstrong and reek of arrogance. While his style and tactics are consistent, his form has varied significantly since 2007. Doping seems the only explanation for this and therefore his comments look very foolish - just like Lance.

I think you need to try harder to be objective about your man.

To be fair the other side dont accept the ruling either, only the parts they like, because they never admit that the actual ruling said he got the clen through a supplement.

For the record I dont believe for a moment that Contador is clean, and im 90% sure he got the clen due to deliberate doping.

But if thats what the ruling said and people accept the ruling as they keep calling Contador a "convicted doper" while saying Rodriguez for example is 100% clean, then they should take ruling at its full and point out - though we should point out that the ruling did say he most likely got the clenbuterol due to a contaminated spplement

Its what they do with Lance afterall, everytime Lance is mentioned in any newspaper radio, tv show etc its - we should point out that Lance has never failed a test and vehemently denies doping.

With Contador we just get people taking what bits they like from the ruling and say - convicted doper, everytime he touches a bike a kitten dies.

That's mostly the anglophone press hitch, and maybe some french press, in their eyes Alberto is filthy cause he is Spanish and doesn't speak English (lol) and Wiggins is the clean hero, the future of cycling

LaFlorecita is incorrect in her generalization of Contador fans. I have always been a big fan of his: exciting riding, seems like a really nice person, blah, blah, blah. BUT there are cycling rules that the riders and fans both have to accept, and those rules say AC has won 5, not 7 titles. I wish he was allowed to keep the other 2, but he was not.

As an AC fan I was not impressed with the "7 fingered salute". I can understand that if he actually is innocent of the clen charge, and never actually did dope, then in his heart he would know he won 7 GTs clean, but he needs to keep such sentiment to himself, or amongst family. To wave 7 fingers around in public is an insult to the quest for a dope-free sport. I am also not impressed with LaFlorecita saying AC fans like myself are not "real" AC fans.

Even if he kept the Giro win that would mean he would'nt of been back until August of 2013 because you would'nt of taken his 2011 results off him. His ban would of started on Feb 2011 and it would of been only backdated for when he was provisionally suspended for about 5 to 6 months when it was being dealt with the Spanish Federation. It would result in him not winning this Vuelta and still being on 5 wins even when you include that Giro.

well put hitch. i very much agree with you. the fact is, the verdict is ambiguous it does neither says contador is a convicted doper nor that he is innocent so people who dislike/like him will interpret that in the way they want and the way that suits their "feelings" towards him.

one thing is certain, people like Laflorecita and Sartoris are just showing what every1 already knew. Fanboys are all the same no matter who they cheer for. their complete blind faith in contador and inability judge anything about him in an unbiased way reminds me of all the armstrong fanboys that used to roam the clinic defending their idol from everything and everyone.

like i said on my previous post, contador should just forget about this and move on, to continue to bring clengate up is idiotic to say the least.

I don't really care about those rules. I admire Contador and he's won 7 big Tours. Period.

You have a point, but he could still have fought the charges with some bogus explanation and hope for the best.

Because that's not what the ruling said. It said that, of all the scenarios presented to the CAS panel, the least unlikely one was the contaminated supplement. They went out of their way to point out that didn't mean they necessarily believed that's what happened, just that it was enough to suspend Contador on the basis of strict liability.

People can say he won 5 but they're just fooling themselves, the fans saw who won and we can't erase their memory. Did you see Andy in yellow on the podium on the Champs Elysées in 2010? Did you see Scarponi riding into Milano in the leader's jersey? No. We saw Alberto.

And I do not agree at all when you say he should keep his sentiments to himself, if Wiggins, Evans etc are allowed to speak their minds, then so is Alberto. He could've given the 1 finger salute but he's too nice for that.

because you are not smart enough. I look around and i see idiots everywhere.. some are journalists, forum posters, lawyers, engineers and doctors, etc. the same is applied to the highest order in sport's law.

so, do you accept everything that the UCI and USADA or even CAS do? you are hilarious. they are a bunch of useless hypocrites that understand 0 about what they should and are afraid of changing what has been done since the beginning of what we call "mankind": "cheating".

they cannot say that contador was clean, because that would be bad for the meat industry. there's regular people working there too, you know.. those that cheat. they also cannot say that football players cheat, too much money.

I'm not saying that contador did not dope, but i believe that he did not cheated. On the other hand you have lance, merckx, boogerd, anquetil, coppi.. you know, those that enjoyed the "heaviest" drugs they could find.

riders aren't the problem.. stupid people are. I mean, you guys still see eddy as the best ever even when you talk about contador's number of deserved GT wins.

that's being 1) ignorant and 2) hypocrite. No offence, just the truth.

Know what? Alberto's unsuppressed anger during this Vuelta (something we've never seen before) is to me yet another proof of his innocence. And I think this attitude suits him better. He's played the nice humble guy role long enough.

No Alberto should NOT move on. Oh I know you all just want to forget he won those titles, you all want to fool yourself and believe Andy ****ing Schleck is a tour winner. That is exactly why Alberto should NOT move on and should keep on reminding everyone he is the one who won those titles.

And it makes me absolutely SICK that everyone constantly talks about my blind faith, IT IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE. You talk about my inability to judge anything about him in an unbiased way well I didn't get my Masters in Law for nothing!! I said this a gazillion times before but it seems like everyone is just ignoring it: I KNOW THERE IS A BIG POSSIBILITY ALBERTO IS A DOPER. BUT I WANT TO BELIEVE HIM BECAUSE I WANT HIM TO BE INNOCENT. And as long as there is no incontrovertible evidence (aka a confession) I will NOT brand him as a doper. Because what if he in some way or another did NOT dope, how am I going to live with myself knowing I unfairly called him a cheat.

Edit: I'm sorry for the big obnoxious letter size but it seems like people will just ignore it otherwise.

the fact that even i am considered a contador hater in your eyes, says plenty.

if you have faith that he is innocent you should keep that faith to yourself and stop calling out every1 that doesn't share that same faith.

you are starting to sound like the catholic church does when talking about atheists. . . .

also just to make it clear for myself, so for you to believe contador is a doper he must confess it himself or some tremendous proof like a EPO possitive has to be found right?

IIRC no1 at sky has confessed to doping nor tested positive yet you had no problems calling them dopers all july long?

why isn't the same criteria applied to both contador and sky/wiggins/froome?
