Ah, the guy that thinks no one is a champion except the riders he likes :p

Have you never learned to use capital letters by the way? Or decent grammar for that matter.

The way you talk it seems like you have a crush on everything Armstrong related.

Just sayin'

All I said was Contador not sprinting for the victory in stage 7 was not because lack of form. If you disagree then fine, but today he proved the topic starter wrong.

Not at all. I still think he looked like a slow turtle on the gravel stage and the mountain stage. Unless he has also learned to time travel he won't be able to prove me wrong.

On the mountain stage Contador would have lost time if some one else hadn't come through and closed the gap. So what is his strategy? Lose time on mountain stages on purpose and then try to take it back again on the flat stages?

He's far, far worse. At least you will concede when you get it wrong (er...sometimes) and have a sense of humour. (er........sometimes);)

The way he talks, you think it was him pedaling the Beefo's bike.

Here's a thought. Maybe the mods should compile a UCI style, list of posters most likely to test positive for being hypocritical.
In which case, Mr Pisstol, would score a ten!:D

el pistolero to try and switch around to attack you in 5-4-3-2-1

You can see his stage 8 attack here in this video at 2.28.

Not exactly Peyresourde either, so I guess he learned to do this overnight.

Flew away at an 8% part when he saw everyone was tired or not on the front line.

Why would Contador follow Scarponi on his attack in the strade bianche stage? Scarponi attacked when the hill was almost over. No point in following him when he was going to be reeled back in easily on the last flat part.

And the sprint in stage 7 was also on a relatively flat part. I just don't see the problerm here.

As other's have noted, Mt Etna stage should give us a better idea of how well the GC riders are going. Contador looked very relaxed after yesterday's stage. Expect to see some of the more hidden riders like Menchov, come out to play. Probably too early in the race for a decisive stage. Riders like Garzelli will probably be more aggressive than the best GC riders, and look for a stage win. Should be interesting.

though i cannot speak for c&c fan, i have the answer to the capital letters portion of your question.

c&c fan is afflicted with the same insidious disease as i am: terminal e.e. cummingsism.

regarding the thread topic/question: ahhhhh, yep.

Contador was absolutely brilliant today. It was a repeat of Verbier. As Nibali said, when Contador attacked, it was as though an arrow had left the group.

As though Lance had left the group...ahhh...the nostalgia.

AC is a try hard. what was the point really - to feed his ego?
it wasnt necessary to now put his team under pressure for the next 2 weeks, when he clearly could take it whenever he wanted to.

if i were his team mates, id just say "f-u AC, you want us to chase? do it yourself". then have bjanne screaming like a little girl down the radio (oh for safety sake of course..)

While it may have been better for Saxo's domestiques to have AC wait a few days before really showing his hand, not every team has to follow the DiscoPostal model.

Saxo Bank doesn't have to control the race. They can give up the jersey if they choose not to defend it right now. All they need is to ride hard starting next Friday, and support AC if he gets into trouble (either a crash or mechanical). He should be able to handle the rest.

+1. AC's team hasn't really had to do anything yet either, especially Porte. If he keeps fairly fresh until the last week then who knows how much AC will benefit from this.

Nibali on the other hand has pushed his Liquigas boys fairly hard on a couple of stages and many of the other teams are pretty shallow apart from the leaders. IMO the only thing that MAY cause a headache could be a Menchov/Sastre ambush in the last week.

+1 Its great for SBS and Bertie to have gained time on his favorites. They can alsways let a breakaway go and some random rider take the jersey. I think a lot of riders realise that and will try to get in the break.

Lampre have been on the front every day and have a stage win, a few podiums and Petacchi's Red for 7 days to show for it.

Saxo have barely been sighted at the front of the race and have a 1st, a 2nd and now lead the race in two classifications.

Contador/SBS only has to worry about Stage 11 - and it might be a good idea to let a long break go that day.

He doesn't need any teammates in the Dolomites.

In the final few intermediate stages he will have enough time that no one will have to work too hard to "defend" his lead.
