Remco has bigger fish to fry at this point of his career. In Championship races that's basically the Olympics where he could try to win both the RR and the TT already next year.

@Red Rick, can we now conclude that Remco doesn't have any weakness in TTs over 30-35km?
Offcourse, but he said this week he wants to collect all 6 jerseys, today he claimed the fifth one so only to do is UEC Road race champion.

Maybe even more impressive is that Tarling setup isn't yet the best he could have had. HIs handlebars are not yet custom like the others.

Lovely picture :D
Is that some sort of bracelet he’s wearing?

Also saw this comment in the CN piece:

"I've never done a performance like today - I need to find a solution to try to compare with Remco," Ganna said. "At the moment I think everyone knows he is the man. I need to fight for a long time because he is the future - he has a lot of time to win the jersey and he is here with the jersey."
...
With the Paris Olympics coming closer on the horizon, Ganna now has a puzzle to work out in how to beat Evenepoel - he only mentioned aerodynamics as the only possible area to improve upon.
"In performance, it would be hard, the numbers are really high," he said. "I think we will try to find new equipment or try to train myself to roll the shoulders because if you see [Remco] from the front you see a big difference."

Let's not make it out as if he's on his very own level in this regard. The age differences between Michael Rogers' first win, Ganna's first win, and Remco's win today are negligible.

Also, he's won three out of the six time trials he has done this season. A hit rate of 50 percent is, by all means, incredibly impressive, but it's disingenuous to say that he's won about every time trial he's participated in this year.
You are right about the stats but the 2 TT's in Switzerland were after a long break due to Covid and during the NC TT he crashed badly. Rather than looking at his wins, I find his consistency impressive and not matched by anyone of the current generation. You can basically be sure that he ends on the podium.

Chapeau Remco! The "Aero-skin" wins again! Tarling was a surprise - "plucky Brit does well!" as it used to be phrased. At only 19 years old, it was the day's stand out performance. Pogacar confirmed he needs a good holiday.

Ganna has the big advantage that Remco is almost certainly doing the TdF for gc next year and (if the schedule is like usually) will have the road race in his legs. So Ganna might be able to have a better preparation for the Olympic TT.

Next year it won't be like that. Time trial will be on Sunday, 27th of July, presumably one week after the Tour ends so maybe Remco is still a bit fatigued from that and then the road race in the next Saturday.

However given that it will be a flat 32k TT, I think Ganna will have to worry about Tarling and Küng too.

Remco said that for a top TT being fresh is crucial while for the RR it helps to have the basic fitness and race hardness of a GT in the legs. He said that this is probably the main difference between his performance at the WC this year and last year. So I think he knows he can't be top at the OC TT.
