Moving along on a bike you get the cooling effect of the air so the apparent temperature is lower. The humidity is more noticable climbing when you are moving more slowly. But really, as red_flanders said, 50% humidity isn't bad at all, maybe thanks to the altitude.I’ve been wondering about this. 27C is manageable, even comfortable, but are they all really familiar with humidity on a functional level? There are humid days where people I train with regularly will overheat and ( as some people have mentioned), have to stay at a minimum so they don’t go hotter.
This converter says 27C with between 50% and 60% humidity riding at 40km/h is an apparent temperature of between 21 and 22C. That is thanks to the cooling effect of moving air on the skin. At a lower speed of 20km/h that rises to 25C.
Not sure when all the riders arrived in Kigali but I think they should all be acclimatized to both the altitude and the mild temperature by race day.
