I understand Belgium wanted to make this race hard for Widar... but why so early? You leave him incredibly exposed.
Is it his fault the riders blew themselves up and went too hard?
I heard a Belgian woman junior saying it was a tough lap and very explosive where you have to be in front all the time, I just knew they would take this as a sign to control the whole day. You could see it coming. Isolated already. He looks really strong but if they play the numbers game it’s over.Pauwels showing how tactically inept he is, once again. Just like Vanthourenhout he's lucky he has Remco to be able to pretend he is good.

I think the plan is okay, it's just that they went way too hard and blew themselves up which is a classic rookie mistake.Yes, of course if you overrate them tf.
He now has to pray Widar in insanely good (he looks good luckily).

I was surprised to see Finn drill it over the finish with Widar on his wheel instead of waiting for his teammates to go in a move.Italy sure lost a chance to have someone with Alvarez, although I don't think it'll make a difference since Belgium will start controlling again.
I don't get why they don't just look at their heartrate and communicate with each other... I know I can't go longer than 15-20min with a heartrate at 180. Just push as hard as your body allows, on heartrate and feeling. Don't focus on power because that's not reliable in these environments.Going this hard WAS the plan. It was a completely unrealistic plan. Thinking they could go this hard all day and keep it together.
It's not over cause Widar looks good (and some Belgians will come back), but this was literally written in the stars.
About to join his old friend Alvarez.Finn on the move. Smart. And strong.
Because this is a World Championships that excludes the better riders.with both Norwegians out already: how come Nordhagen is not part of the team?
