World Championship team qualifying system

yeh, but last year for example Portugal easily scored enough points to line up 6 riders although the Volta finished too late as well, so it's mostly about not having been good enough this year

edit: btw Portugal will be allowed to line up 4 riders according to my calculations, not 3

...but I was wrong about that

http://www.uci.ch/Modules/BUILTIN/g...bjTypeCode=FILE&type=FILE&id=ODg4MTI&LangId=1

9 starters for Poland and Switzerland (and Morocco - for whatever reason), therefor no not allocated spots for Slovenia, Portugal, Germany and Denmark

so, eventhough the rules are still the same, they are applied differently to 2010 (same scenario, but 6 spots for Kazakhstan back then, 9 for Poland now)

lol. The UCI cannot figure out its own qualification rules. What bozos :p

Thanks for the link search. When I first saw Morocco had 9 riders I immediately thought of payback for the recent presidential nomination. I guess that looked a little too obvious and they had to fix that up. ;)

Switzerland is allowed to roll a minimum of 6 riders through WT and 3 throuth ET, so this makes sense to me. Even they just had 5 riders with WT-points.

yeh, it does make sense, it's just that in 2010 Katachstan was 10th in WT ranking (with 3 riders scoring WT points) + 3rd in Asian Ranking (= 3 additional spots) and they still weren't allowed to line up more than 6 riders. That's where my confusion came from and why I expected that those "gifted" spots from wt ranking would disappear in that case

Official list of riders per country. Bolded the ones that imo simply make no sense and show how stupid the point system is.

Good to see Iran and Morocco with more riders than Ireland, Denmark and Norway. Hopefully the Brits will ride in support of Martin as they don't have a potential winner of their own to support.

I read a report that although Colombia can have 9 riders, and even though they are #1 in UCI America, they still need at least 5 WT riders in top 100 to have the maximum of 9.
My understanding is that either Winner Anacona or Cayenato Sarmiento must win a stage in the Vuelta to make this happen.
Apparently there is more to the UCI ruling than what I referenced a few weeks ago. Anyone seen anything about this?

I thought the UCI already sent out the list of riders per country as per above. Have they changed their mind? Is there an official comunication on this?
