I'm not hispanic or mexican but I would have told that teacher something like that..Kind of like people talking about the french being rude, but then you find out they are rude to someone like Tom DeLay who asked them if they speak German and when they say no he says your welcome.. etc.. But an open letter to his senator submitted as an LTTE ...pfffft... I bet that guy is not even a teacher... Probably just a freeper or a stormfronter or hannity forum d-bag.--- a scotty

I am convinced that boredom (redtreviso) is one of the greatest tortures. If I were to imagine Hell, it would be the place where you were continually bored (forced to read the stupid shit redtrviso writes).

Yawn. Yawn. Double yawn.

You mean you would have never guessed someone named Gomez lived in Victoria 100 and something years before Daaaaavy Crockett and Sam Houston were born?

Perhaps, but only if Gomez was a Comanche.

Okay just a touch of clarification requested, while I realize in the article that was referenced the majority of students were Hispanic. But the common language was English correct? Would the rudeness not be the same as a French waiter not at least trying to be addressed in the common language?

No, I would say the offical language was English, the common language would be Spanish or rather Mexican, as it is in a large part of the great southwest. There is a distinction, I would bet that the Chicken understands Mexican better then Contador does.;)

I didn't mean to make a comparison of what language to speak and where, just that Americans acting badly often complain about the french (or whoever) being rude to them.

I was told by a hispanic friend of mine that hardly any hispanics here in Texas speak spanish..They speak a tex-mex or a piglatin kind of language that is just not meant to be understood by gringos.

Did I insult another one of your drunk heroes...convicted felon Tom DeLay(R)?
Speaking of your heroes..Duke Cunningham(R) was a drunk wasn't he?.. I wonder if they let them drink in federal prison..

Teabaggers/Republicans/scottys/glenns

""It is a safe bet that if you are looking at an elected official from the Tea Party, you are looking at a Dominionist. While some of the rank-and-file in the Tea Party are not hard-core members of the Christian Right, those who they elected to power are almost invariably from the school of thought which espouses dismantling the federal government and returning the power to patriarchal families and to states who will rule in accordance with Biblical law.

Dominionists are extreme free-market hawks. They believe it is sacred in the same way that they believe that the family is sacred. They believe that all programs which promote equality are immoral. Education and unions are two of the greatest instruments of equality.

The Tea Party will defund public education until it is nothing more than a lurching skeleton, and then they will point to its ineffectiveness as a reason to abolish it altogether. They don’t believe in public education; they believe in homeschooling. Not only does homeschooling keep our children from being exposed to dangerous ideas like evolution, civics, the true history of the United States and slavery, it also keeps their mothers in their place: the home.

Most teachers union propaganda will tell you there is no difference or that public schools are actually better than private.

I don't know how to engage parents who don't care but I just can't see the harm in providing parents a choice if their current school (public or private) is underperforming. The only way to close the gap is bring the bottom up to the top. Unfortunately, the trend seems to be bringing the top down to the bottom.

Your second question is too subjective for me. I am not confident our definitions of 'worthy' would be very close.

The private school system is in its DNA, or at least at its conceptual basis, classist and is the fruit of an ideological perspective, among the conservative thought, that says that placing everything within the hands of private ownership is better.

The public school system in America has suffered because of this ideology and because of the business logic that drives it, which has ruined the culture by turning everything into an unscrupulous commercial concern as I have already said. I see so much superficiality among my students, who, in many ways, have become the victims of this ideology and this primitive mentality that you encounter everywhere.

It is thus not surprising the brainless atmosphere our last several generations of rulers have created, following this business logic, and how repulsive it's all become, how charmless. This has come to involve everyone, teachers and students alike, and no amount of money thrown into the schools coming from the private sector can correct the problem, which is not economic after all, but cultural.

The superficiality I encounter among many of my university students isn't possible among the Italians. I'm sorry to state this baldly, and I'm certain it will offend your deep patriotic sentiment, but its the truth. Like it or not its what this America has, generally speaking, produced. Until or leaders begin to see what the real problem is, further decline is inevitable.

Has the UN dismissed the government of Libya? Every time I hear or read anything about current events there they refer to people as rebels or loyalists. j Curious if that is an official term for somebody that used to be in a government that the UN no longer recognizes. Listened to a BBC report were some guy that was educated in the US said his is in a hurry to set up an temp government so his group can start exporting oil for badly needed revenue.

OMG where do you get this stuff? Is this your own opinions? You let your train jump the rails man.

I support public education. There needs to be a solid public education system in the United States. Many places in the education system are flawed, but it can still work to our benefit. I do not support the school voucher system. I do not see why anyone would home school a child unless they are personally afraid of something. Home schooling is an excuse for the parents to be lazy. Or maybe the parents are a bunch of fatties who have some fat kids and do not want them to be picked on in the same way they were picked on at school? It is some seriously Whacked out Whisky Tango crap. We have some of them fools that work in my office. They sit around home eating Mayonnaise Sandwich’s listening to John Cougar Mellencamp 8tracks.

Evolution, United States and slavery, History, Civics, etc. should all be lessons for school. It is an MORAL obligation we have to the children who grow up in the United States (regardless of immigration status). We MERICANS should take this seriously and be serious about giving an good education to the children of our country. We can go on and on about illegal’s and assimilation for days. In the mean time why not try our very best to have an education system in place that represents the American way.

Unions had their place and in some sense I still think they are a good thing. I just do not believe that a Union needs to be in place to keep work place rights and benefits. Maybe the Union’s should look at themselves and figure out how to change the business model and make it more beneficial for the modern day workers?

I do not attend any church because it is my own opinion that Church’s are on a very large part corrupt (in many ways). Just my opinion. If anyone claims to want Biblical law implemented with government they ARE a idiot ….I would never vote for someone like that.

What is wrong with protecting your family and the values which comes with that? The promotion of equality is a good thing; it has nothing to do with tearing down the family. It should build up the family etc.

The Tea Party had a chance to do something special and yet they let the movement get hijacked by a bunch of racist goons. The leadership is flawed. This type of movement can work but not the way it is currently set up. You have to have a clearly defined path. Not some haphazard get together where a large portion of the movement is clearly racist hate mongers.

Redtreviso ---Please do not group me with the Tea Party crap again. It is a huge insult to me.

Be insulted then..You poodle for them

Unions have their place all right.. Go to any place that has union and non union employees and ask the non union people if they aren't taken advantage of just because their employer can..They just prove the need of unions..More importantly US business's business model is what should be looked at..Not by the unions..It is business in general that would like the cheapest labor costs with absolutely no regard for anything else. 10 year olds in asia somewhere making their products?? FINE..Extra vacation homes for the board of directors..Call that republican congressman and ask for tax breaks...

"Beneath the rule of men entirely great, the pen is mightier than the sword."

If business leaders were noble, unions would be unnecessary. Unfortunately the leaders are unscrupulous.

Something special? Like what? I thought the original Tea party was about taxation without representation?

I'd say dishonesty and ignorance it's based upon is a huge flaw.

When you have T Party membership railing about Govt. taking away their Medicare, I think you have a huge disconnect with reality.

T bagging membership is almost entirely based on lies and stupidity. The birthers, Obama is a socialist, Obamacare, I mean please, name one rational thing these imbeciles stand for. They should be laughed out of town.

The T bagging movement is an Alice in Wonderland phenomenon.

Like in a third option when casting a vote.

I think President Obama is a socialist is that a bad thing? Socialism is completely bad?

No I have not. You are all wrong on that.

Redtreviso you voted for Tom Delay I am sure of that. That is why you have such a passion for FoxNews. Got any quotes for us today?

I have no doubt the majority of tea party folks voted for President Bush. I could care less.

Replace the word 'business' with the word 'government', or 'political', or 'public.'

T bagging membership is almost entirely based on lies and stupidity.

You just keep 'mis-underestimating' and your side will keep getting rolled.

The U.S. government explicitly aspires toward nobility.

"ordain and establish this Constitution."

Business aspires towards the bottom line.

Whether 'my side' keeps getting rolled or not is largely irrelevant to what the truth of these matters are.

You're mistaking "winning" with speaking truth.

I'm sorry you're confused.

Third option?

We have Democrats, weak and semi corrupt.

Republicans, greedy, criminal, and dishonest.

And you think adding the insane T Party to the greedy and criminal Republicans is a viable third option?

As to your second statement above, I don't know what you're talking about. The socialist stuff is a major T bagging talking point, that's why I listed it.
