No. In fact I overheard some dumbasses today out in a piazza talking about how it's all designed to cast him out. That is that the judicial system is "constructing" something to eliminate Berlusca.

What a world...and he has the media in his favor.

Berlusconi was sentenced to 7 years jail today. Whether he serves time remains to be seen - he will not be taken into custody until all appeals are exhausted.

finally, an official public comment from a high-ranking russian lavrov ‘he never crossed our border‘. if stripped of any legal chuff, provided snowden is still in moscow, this means he never left the airport’s transit area.

the timing of lavrov’s strange silence and his sudden appearance today, indicates to me that snowden has just been cleared and is on his way to a 3d safe country. my speculation, he is heading south, possibly iran, as one of the only true safe transit corridors.

also interesting was/is how fsb managed to take all the bright light off itself by shining it on a suddenly omnipotent wikileaks…this too was a fine professional job.

overall, putin’s intransigence on snowden, combined with his other increasingly belligerent positions (on Syria etc) smells of a new cold war.

Putin says he's still in transit at Moscow airport, which presumably means that the Russians can't simply 'disappear' him. How this squares with Assange saying he was in a 'safe place' remains to be seen.

In Down Under Politics:

The two independents (Windsor and Oakeshott) who propped up the Labor Government have retired and are not facing the people at the upcoming election. Cowards.

We also may have a new Prime Minister.

Just another day in Australian Politics.:D

ACF must be urinating himself with laughter :D. What on earth are Labor up to? This just shows indecisiveness and a general air of incompetence around the ALP. These could be famous last words, but I reckon this is the worst thing they could have done.

Isn't this the second time that Rudd has challenged Gillard's leadership? I thought he got defeated the first time.

Yeah, from memory it was a crushing defeat- he ended up losing his spot on the cabinet as well and just ended up being an ordinary MP. It's absolutely senseless.

Rudd has no chance at the election. If a no confidence vote happens tomorrow word is Oakeshott, Windsor and Craig Thompson will all vote for the Coalition, giving them a majority by two seats from memory.

Thus we'd have a new govt and grounds for an almost immediate election.

Either way, Labor is gonski. Bye bye. Been that way for over 2 years now. Rudd instigated EVERY bad Labor policy. Only the truly moronic don't remember. They will lose almost 30 seats if not that at an election regardless of who led them. The Coalition only need to show up and not get drawn into the mud. Do that and they will win so many seats it won't be funny.

Labor are a complete disgrace. Rudd is a worse PM than Gillard. Tell them to just **** off. I have just come from a party with some Liberal MPs. They don't fear Rudd. He will be gone very soon like Gillard was.

Rudd will get a poll bounce for Labor but people in the Liberal Party are not bothered. The Leadership is not the issue for Labor. It is the **** job they have done.

Bingo. It's the party that is rotten to the core.

They need total removal. The Coalition need not fear them. The public remember. Rudd is a proven egotistical liar and fraud. The Coalition should press him and the Governor General on one issue. Two words; Heiner Affair. People knew about that, both would be in gaol.

Mark Latham's piece on both Gillard and Rudd last month was GOLD. Was such an accurate description of both of them.

Rudd is under some assumption that the rest of Australia will view him like the typical Queenslander does. God help us.

I haven't been keeping very current over the past few weeks/months. Could somebody fill me in on how it came to this so rapidly?

Continual slide in the polls for Gillard. I don't think it was rapid, Rudd was just biding his time until Labor had no choice. Gillard called his bluff and lost by 12 votes. Labor realised that Gillard could not win the election but the trouble for Labor is, many of their senior ministers have resigned as they can't work with Rudd. Yes Rudd is popular but the Liberals have so much damaging information to work with especially from the mouths of Labor ministers themselves, that after the novelty of a Rudd comeback dies down I still can't see them winning the election unless cultural amnesia sets in.

Yes, I just watched Abbott in Parliament and he was already strongly attacking Rudd. Question Time should be awesome today.

Latham calls Rudd a 'snake in the pit'.

Australia's ambassador to the USA, former Labor leader Kim Beazley addressed both the Republicans and Democrats early last year. They were shocked when he said Labor would win maybe 30-35 seats max. Rudd may save maybe 10. They won't pull over 50. I still think it will be below 40. Now consider how many seats are in the House of Representatives; 149.

I was led to believe this came about yesterday simply because today is the last sitting in Parliament and Rudd wanted to wait to the last minute to launch an attack. Apparently he has had the numbers for at least a week if not longer. They were simply sitting on it.

He is poison. Anyone near him gets bitten. Vile little man. More akin to swine than anything. Oh wait, he has a pigs valve in his heart. Go figure.

Galic Ho, on the Heiner Affair, it is interesting to note that the investigation into that saga will be released by the Queensland Government this Sunday.

Oh really?

There you go. Won't be what it should have been. Queen's Counsel's were calling for a full blown investigation. Has a specific terminology which eludes me at this moment. The biggest you can get...Labor protect their own. Especially the Qld ilk from the late 80s and early 90s.

Fret not guys. Rudd won't win the election. He started ALL the problems. People remember. Maybe not every Queenslander, but all the unhappy seats do and there are a lot.

The Liberals media blitz should be interesting. Saw one of the ads last night where all of the criticism of Rudd comes straight from the mouths of his Labor colleagues. Very effective ad.
