People might not know about the Holodomor but the crimes of Stalin are widely known. I have to say I'm glad that Bolsheviks are exposed now, even if I have to repeat that Stalin also pays for other commies. You talk about Holodomor but who talks about the Kronstadt Massacre (1921) by Trotsky. Nobody because Trotsky still has some prestige, even in non-Commie left. Hitchens considered him a hero of left-wing resistance against Stalin !!! Several Trotskyist became neocon supporters of Bush and of the Iraq War !!

Besides, what you are referring to is always the crimes of other nations.

Wake me up when pupils in the US are told about the spraying of Agent Orange across Vietnam! The use of depleted uranium in Iraq & Yugoslavia! The Amerindian genocide backed with deportation, land robberies, parking in unproductive "reserves" and buffalo extermination! Wake me up when they are told about the 1759 Quebec bombing and the criminal burning of farms and crops around Quebec by the British (I'm deeply interested in that nowadays)! Wake me up when they are told about all the British & allied bombings of German towns such as Dresden, Duisbourg, Cologne, Karlsruhe, Hamburg, etc. which only killed civilians (not talking about the bombings of Belgian or French towns and of course Hiroshima)! Wake me up when the brutality of Sherman's March to the Sea is exposed! Etc etc etc.

I may talk for hours about the Armenian genocide, if you want. But before you accuse others, take a look at yourself, please.
You seem to be a bit angry with Merikans and some various other nations.

Wake me up before you go go.

Man Merikans don't know about agent orange? I never knew that. DU was not exposed in merikah? Thanks for letting me know.

I think REM had a song about that orange stuff. I like a good bowl of Pho.

And who are these Amerindians? I. am. intrigued. Southern reconstruction, say what?
Yes they did!

Banh Mi sandwich with grilled pork / pickled carrots / fresh jalapeno / cilantro - my favorite. I also like a good bowl of Pho.

Trotskii and Kronstadt. Devastating. I notice Echoes doesn't get wound up about the Terror in his litanies. Too obvious?
Has to be something he believes us Merikans are left out in the dark on. You know like the war of 1812 or some type of failed coup down in Venezuela. Or how we put Columbia on blast and took from them land and made the country of Panama. Oh wait ...I'm not supposed to know about any of those type of subjects.

Must be too obvious, I guess maybe the grass is greenER over on the other side.

Brother, brother, brother - There's far too many of you dying - You know we've got to find a way

Oh, you know we've got to find a way - To bring some understanding here today - Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality

Wondering if it were any possible to discuss in a serene way on CN ... Without any adhominems at least.

I notice that my haters would usually repeat the same catchphrases : "litanies", "back to 1492", ... That's because they don't have any arguments.

It's not altogether surprising that informed people in the 21st century react badly, or with invective, or even with sarcasm, to views that on the whole, can be characterized as medieval, monarchist, and politically and religiously reactionary.

Oh! I missed the serenity in your post. Might have been the admonition that tripped it up. So you had a point in that laundry list that you were looking to discuss? What was it?

Nah, Merikans just don't give a *** unless it's another Merikan killed. Any information that doesn't scream MeriKa is like lite beer, it just passes right through with no effect. Just smile and move on, raise the flag, say a prayer (about Merika) and go shop till you drop.

Even the Vets. just get a pat on the back and if they show any distress ignorance is the preferred reaction. Then they kill themselves and nobody knows why. Just smile and carry on...shopping.

Yeah, it was just those southerners, let's frame it like that. Is that how academia views it? As an intellectual you may have found your level with REM.

You should read the post I was replying to. The sentences aren't connected.

But all this foaming at the mouth is entertaining I guess.

I'm retired anyway so it's anyone's guess what you're on about. Maybe you could pitch in with the sticky furor.

You're in the wrong thread. And Noam is past his expiration date. "Obvious givens" would be more accurate.

Noam is talking about the US role in international relations. I think it's the correct enough thread.

deflect, project or whatever some more. your b.s. is obvious and boring.

Then say so. Alert anyone and everyone else to what it is that you desperately need to express and get a conversation going. You're not telling me anything new.

The fact that you haven't all evening indicates a rather different and obvious agenda.

That's definitely boring.

Glib, smarmy *** is boring. There's nothing new to tell you (that's obvious) and you have nothing new to tell anybody either (that's obvious too).

Whew, I feel better getting that off my chest. Smug Americans deflecting all criticism and responsibility, Morris, whatever, Berman nailed it. Smile and it's all good.

Good. Too bad it took so long. I'm sorry I can't tell you what you want to hear, or be who you'd like me to be, but it's nice that you're feeling better. PM next time and spare everyone the drama.

It's great also that you're looking out for the US.

Please post more links with no explanations though. That's good stuff.

hahaha hahaha - you're exceptional.

Hilarious Eurovision last night; ridiculously political. Ukraine sent a singer (of Crimean Tatar heritage) who sung '1944', a song about the treatment of the Tatars under Stalin, effectively saying that Putin was doing the same. It was ridiculously political. You could tell which country would vote for Russia and Ukraine. Israel? Obviously Ukraine. Belarus? Of course, Russia. If someone gave points to Ukraine then Russia wouldn't get any from that country.

Ukraine ended up winning, despite Russia storming the popular vote. The well-known European country Australia came 2nd. You know, the one in Europe. It was slightly sad to see no one in the Ukraine camp realising they'd won after they were on like 530 points and Russia on 130 and Russia got given 361 (these were the final votes to be handed out); this to anyone with any grasp of basic mental arithmetic meant that Ukraine had won. The Russian guy worked it out, and was crestfallen. It took the Ukraine camp until the updated leaderboard to work it out, when it showed Russia on 491.
