I bet I can drink Scott under the table and yet alcohol consuption has not ruined my brain and turned me conservative. I would suggest that Scott's political bent is reached not because of his appreciation for good beer but in spite of it.

Just think how good that beer would be if the govt made it. No competition. No innovation. No quality. No variation. No Taste. Same crappy beer for everyone. Sort of like the Russian cars of the cold war era.

Actually, if the govt made beer they would stop because the health police need to reduce cost of care and, as we all know, beer drinking (particularly in quantities you speak of) are not healthy and thus should be outlawed. I mean for the greater good, of course.

I am not sympathetic to W...just addicts in general..It is one thing to indulge when young , but there is a time to recognize the problem and be an adult..After that it might not be a choice to BE and addict but it is to want to BE..To think you are better for it and expect others to feel the same.

So you don't believe addiction to be a disease? How utterly right-wing, flat-earth, knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing, red-neck'd can you be?

I recoil in horror, sir.

How dare you bash the infirm. That is neither civilized nor enlightened.

Memo to Rhubroma;

If you would please, in 10 -12 clear and concise paragraphs, please set Mr. BM straight as he clearly is violating rules of greater humanity.

Sincerely,
Scott SoCall

I feel sympathy for the children who become addicted to substances because their mothers or fathers bring them into the life or the people who become addicted to prescription medicine because of medical reasons.

I have huge respect for people who see the Light and overcome the issue.

I do not however feel sorry for people ( I deal with them nearly everyday in my job) who drink a case a day , 7 days a week , 365 days a year who to get their fix

1. Neglect their children
2. Abuse their children
3. Assault and threaten Innocent Citizens
4. Commit Robbery or Armed robbery

and numerous other uncivilised and unlawful acts

Yeah im the one thats not civilized.

I'm sure it is..but being proud of it and admired for it is something else..the "I should stop this" or "I am going to do whatever the f I want to always and not let anything stop me from self importance" are the big differences.
It's kind of a power thing too.. Look at me 5 DWIs and I am still made CEO..
Might be a badge of honor for Lindsey Lohan but I'd rather not have our national economic policy decided by those wearing such badges.

If you don't like that sort of colorful tapestry then you probably should not take a real close look at any elected representative from any State or any party.

I dont really see it as a laughing matter sorry , my 2nd cousin who is now 11 was born with Cerebal Palsy while her mum was smoking cones and snorting lines of coke and speed during her 9 month pregnancy .

The mother now puts on the why did this happen to me , its too hard routine, as far as im concerned she is not fit to be a mother and she shouldnt have custody of her child.

I understand her addiction is real but she was offered a opportunity to wake up and smell the roses when she became pregnant, but chose to risk the life of her baby and not even care. It makes me sick.

They do "make" beer by determining the alcohol content based on state guidelines...hence proving your point.

Imagine what they will do with pot when they legalize that!

What a car! Those were the good ol'days.

The best beers haven't changed their recipes for like 5 centuries. Now there's innovation for you.

Simple? Man, this is complex stuff here. We are talking about beer.

Would you buy a beer made by the State? Yeah, I didn't think so.

People should be responsible for their actions.

I don't think anyone would consider the above a laughing matter. And before you villify me you might peruse earlier pages on this thread. I started posting at #15.

It depends how you look at it , if beer was made by the Govt their goal would be revenue raisng so i think they would make it as enticing as they could.

Imagine a Party with the Election Campaign " Our beer is better than yours"

The Party couldnt lose.

This is another ridiculous point you are trying to make.

If you had traveled behind the Iron Curtain, you would have found some of the best beers in the world and of course, best vodkas.

These things have nothing to do with a political structure, or make-up of the state, but tradition and know-how.

I dont have a problem with your views at all , we are just different people who share different experiences , i realise that my views are distorted by the fact i know of a single situation which clouds my judgement.

I also know that i would never brush someone off who approached me for help, people who want to better themselves and want to overcome the problem deserve a fair go and i also believe everyone deserves a second chance.

My views may sound harsh but in reality each person should be treated as a individual instance not painted with the same brush as other addicts.
