I'm afraid so... think our best chances are with Alex in the TT now.

I think Quaade will be the best shot in the U23 TT - he was faster than Phinney when he crashed out last year. Lander will have a good chance in the U23 RR, too.
I'm sure Alex Rasmussen will do his best, but I think he's not quite at the level of Cancellara, Martin, Tuft etc.

# BMC riders in the US team! Nice! Hopefully Taylor can do something on this tt course. Quite flat course should suit him.

So... seven guys for six places. Who'll be left out?

Lars Bak, HTC-Highroad
Alex Rasmussen, HTC-Highroad
Nicki Sørensen, Saxo Bank-SunGard
Chris Anker Sørensen, Saxo Bank-SunGard
Michael Mørkøv, Saxo Bank-SunGard
Jakob Fuglsang, Leopard Trek
Anders Lund, Leopard Trek

Why? He's been doing pretty well in the Vuelta so I guess the form is there...

---

Okay. Here's to randomly hoping Mørkøv will win somehow so that non-Danish-speaking people will have to frequently pronounce Mørkøv Unless of course The Curse decides to come back...

Morkov looks easy to pronounce :S is this a trap though?

I saw he one the sprint challenge thing they did yesterday, can't say I have noticed him much before though.

It's easy enough, if you remember that Ø is not the same as O. Pronounced something like the "eux" in french deux. And of course, the lazy danish articulation is quite hard to master..

Also, people often pronounce it like it's a Russian name. "Morkoff." But the v is pronounced like an English v.

For the non-francophones, Ø is pronounced kind of like the vowel in the English "sir". (Slightly different but close enough.)

Breschel could still ride the road race: http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/breschel-im-not-ruling-myself-out-yet

In Bulgarian and (Russian probably) morkov means carrot. :p

Lund. Rasmussen can lead out Morkov for the sprint whilst Bak and Nicki can be the workers for the sprint. Fuglsang and CAS should get into a break, they would be considered real chances in a break.

I think Martin is the favourite for the ITT

It may seem so but Canc showed in the cobbles that he is still one of cyclings greats even if he has done **** all since.

Not much till the tdf, not great at the Tour and not so great barring a good stage 1 benidorm itt since.

That second peak might just becoming.

If it does, Canc will be equalling Pudzianowski for world titles.

I know Cancellara can never be discounted but he has had a long season. Also last year Martin was owning till bad luck struck for him. And he can only get better.

Hope Goss is selected for the Aussie team with Gerrans as Co-Leader.

Yeah. Also pretty much the conclussion I made. That Lund had to go... from the what has he been doing this year? PoV.
Though I read somewhere that Alex may not be in his Giro form any longer...

In the end I guess it's Lars Bonde's decision.

Cancellara is a peak beast, he usually has a peak at the cobbled classics and then a lesser peak at the Tour, to reach his big peak again at the Worlds. Everywhere else he's kinda mediocre compared to his April form.

The first ø is pronounced like the vowel-sound in sir. The second like the vowel sound in deux.
