First of all; the reason he's out is stricktly Clinic and belongs in this thread:

But now that Alex is out of the Worlds who would you think is gonna replace him at the TT?
Vandborg? Isn't he a fairly decent TT'er? Or would DK simply have to make do with one guy at the TT?

Vandborg is a decent TTer but think he is not in form atm. Maybe promote the u23 rider Rasmus Quaade who won the national TT for seniors. But I think they will rather let him do u23 where he has a chance to shine more. But Fuglsang and Bak could be a decent TT duo.

Crap. They should ride for Jonas Aaen or Michael Mørkøv then.

Aye, esp Mørkøv has shown good form, but I think the length will kill him. Bak is probably best bet if he can find his form from PBR.

WC in Denmark with a course perfect for Breschel and Rasmussen. One gets injured, the other bans himself due to stupidity.

Aaen ain't even on the list... :p

Well there is a vacant spot now (0;

This will be the team though:

Nicki Sørensen, Michael Mørkøv, Chris Anker Sørensen (Saxo Bank-SunGard), Lars Bak (HTC-Highroad), Jakob Fuglsang and Anders Lund (Leopard-Trek).

Can only see Bak or Mørkøv doing anything on a course like this

Didn't Denmark get to start 7 riders instead of 6 due to their ranking on the U23 list?

If that's the case, then Aaen should definitely be in there, as he - along with Mørkøv - are the only ones capable of archieving a decent result in a bunch sprint. Bak will definitely try something though.

Aaen is reserve, so its only 6 riders.

Mørkøv will replace Rasmussen for the TT.

Okay. Weird though. Good choice letting Mørkøv ride the ITT though I'm afraid he'll be too tired for the road race. I don't get why Aaen isn't riding instead of Lund or even C. Sørensen.
Aaen has shown some decent results lately, getting 3rd in a stage in Tour of Austria and 3rd in a stage in Tour de Pologne, beating Degenkolb, Sagan, Kristoff, Nizzolo, Blythe, Boonen, Marcato and Matthews in the sprint.

Edit: well I do understand that CAS is in the team because he's probably the most beloved danish rider and will go on an attack at Geels Bakke at some point.

The reason Aaen is not riding instead of CA Sørensen or Anders Lund is that both CA Sørensen and Anders Lund previously have shown that they are very good in a +250 km road race. In the last lap in Geelong last year both of them were in the peloton together with Matti (as the only team with 3 riders). The same applies for the Mendrisio worlds in 2008.

They have show to be reliable in the last 50 km. Aaen has not really shown anything during his pro career.

Agree. Aaen has shown that he is decent in sprints but thats all.

Yeah that's true, but it's not exactly gonna do them any good in the final. I guess it's a matter of personal preferences but I'd rather include a rider who could potentially deliver a good result but could also not finish with the front group instead of having a rider who's more likely to finish with the front group but unlikely to deliver a result.

Besides Aaen has shown, already early in his career, that he can handle long distances, though a world road race os obviously a different matter. I also think that Bak is way better this year than last year and I don't think the distance will hinder him that much.

I do agree though, that CAS definitely should be in the team especially when the race is in Denmark.

portuguese team was announced.

André Cardoso and Ricardo Mestre (Tavira-Prio), Manuel Cardoso and Nelson Oliveira (RadioShack), Filipe Cardoso (Barbot-Efapel) and Rui Costa (Movistar).

costa and oliveira for the itt.

not much portugal can do on this kind of route. maybe costa tries to attack somewhere and the other guys try to get into breaks. . . .

very weird that sergio ribeiro was selected. maybe he is out of form?

With Denmark not really having a shot at winning anymore, I will as well.
Freire is a great rider (far better than his palmarès says, and that one isn't shabby); he's deserved to be the rider with most Worlds wins, and to ride his final season in the rainbow jersey.

That may not of been the case when Boonen orignally said it.

Contador had 0 GT wins when Boonen said that, Phil 0 classic wins and Cancellara one Monument and 1 World title TT.

And Oscarito only one MSR win, but oooohhh so close to his second ;)
