What has Sagan ever proved over such distances? In fact Sagan was totally useless when the road had uphill finishes at the Vuelta. The first stage of the Vuelta, won by Sutton, is similar to this road race.

Well in MSR he had a respectably high finish. In uphill finishes, the example of the stage of the Tour of Sardinia given by Royalpig180 was a good one, but I can't remember the Tour of Poland stage. The only one I can think of is the stage of the Tour de Suisse, where Sagan was beaten by Hushovd (timed his effort better?), but the Slovak's acceleration put a couple of seconds into everyone else in a field containing Rojas, Freire and Boonen.

Generally though, I just look at how well he climbs and how well he sprints, and I cannot believe that he doesn't have the stamina for a long flattish race/can't sprint uphill. It just doesn't fit. I hope noone's touting EBH or Rojas and not rating Sagan. He does lacks support but Peter Velits is a pretty nice domestique on any course.

No Burghardt for Germany. I thought he would deserve a spot over Knees or Klier.

EDIT: btw, by the looks of the course, a sprinter will win this. :(

and an incredible talent, like all current mexican juniors :D

I only found track results for him, has he showed anything outside of Mexico on the road, too? Anyway, really looking forward to the juniors race. :)

they simply don't need another sprinter in the lineup, there are Greipel, Kittel, Degenkolb and it means there's no spot left for Ciolek. As for Wegmann, he ones said that 250km and more races are too hard for him.

Put my first ever bet on on the Worlds there. Picked three outsiders with good odds, and hedged with Gilbert and Sagan. Somewhat contradicted what I posted on here.

If a big time sprinter wins I lose though.

I will definitely wait with putting in my bets after tomorrows u23 race

So should I have.

i wonder how many medals italy has by now,oh wait.
they should know better,as i predicted bettini will come from copenhagen empty-handed and honestly i think he should quit right away.bettini in person didn't fight for petacchi's right to race for his own country after all he did in his great career.if he would have had a heart,he will be gone since the federation decision.but no,he choosed to stay...
i wonder if he will come next year in limburg with god damn ulissi and beletti...

Ciolek took himself out.

Yes, just found. Doesn't feel fit any more. That went fast. :D

Press conference.
- Good spirit and much fun in the team
- Greipel "long ago since a German became Worldchampion..." Tony Martin interjects and causes big laugh in the pressroom "actually..me" :)
- teamplayers blabla
- Hondo not sure about Kittel and Degenkolb, but says they earned their place for sure
- Italians say that the Germans are machines
- Germans think that Gilbert will be the biggest favorite, and hope Mr.2011 will show his weakest performance of the season
- Greipel thinks finish is tough, but not sleepless because of that

After watching the replay of the U23 finish i take back my Gilbert for the win prediction. DeAumere avg close to 60km/h for the last 300m, this is still a sprint and not an anaerobic affair so Cavendish should have a shot, he has a crappy endurance but he isnt that heavy so 4% shouldnt be a problem.
