Men's Road Race - USA Results

Team USA will ride mid-pack the whole race, half will drop out, and no one will finish in the top 20. A typical result.

Im tipping the womens team to win gold in the RR and U23 men to win their RR. Also we still have a very strong teams for the rest.

lol... australia certainly aren't a favorite for the rr womens. Maybe last year's winner does a repeat. Vos has to be favorute, and annemiek van vleuten provides a pretty tough situation for the opposition.
U23 I'm having trouble picking a winner.

I agree with ACF, most of the success has probably been had for the aus. Excellent showing tho. I think the u23 (or junior races maybe) poses there best hope for a result.

I'm still wondering why Goss is so overhyped for Copenhagen...he has shown no glimpses of form in the last few months, and he's being talked like favourite n.1/2?

Same goes for Cancellara actually, but an exception can be made when dealing with Spartacus...still, I can't see how he can get in his top shape to beat Martin...

Goss would be a great pick in top shape: for me I just hadn't been up to date with his race results. I'm still reluctant to believe he's going to suck, as he'll have been aware for ages that the course suits him. I'd think he'd be motivated.

And what do you think about Gerrans? I think the finish suits him. He is in very good form.

I doubt motivation is an issue, I assume the Peter Kusztor of Hungary will be motivated, he wont win tho.

I mean it must have been one of MGs major objectives, but he's not fit? Wait, he was sick, wasn't he. Is that the issue?

For the men's road race, I think stage 17 of last year's Vuelta is a good comparison that I haven't seen mentioned. Gilbert won ahead of Farrar.

231kms long too, with 500m at 6% then 170m flat then finish line.

Here's a nice collage of some people who might win! :D

I love how everyone in the collage is so serious looking except for Freire, who looks like he's had a bit too much to drink...

I read an article earlier and Cancellara isn't doubting himself. It's reminding me of how he was feeling last year formwise and he still ended up killing the field. I don't care if he wins by a fraction of a second, I just know I'm gonna be S******g it when I'm seeing the race.

Weather today will be rainy with medium winds and 15-17 degrees. Sunday will be nice weather: about 18-20 degrees, partly sunny and not much wind. Ideal for the sprinters I reckon.
