I had to leave just as Weening was in the attack, how far did his attack reach? because I see he still made it into the top 10! Also, what happened to Sagan?

Weening'g group was caught near the bottom of the Cauberg if I recall which makes his top 10 super impressive.

Sagan went backwards early on the Cauberg. Time for his form to take a dip.

As for the who was the strongest debate, for me it was:

Kreuziger
Weening
Gilbert
Gerrans
Valverde

But who really cares about that? Cancellara was strongest in 2011 but I'm sure he'd have traded that for victories. It's about results, most importantly the win.

How the hell could people squeeze yet another froome/contador debate on this thread?

It's off topic so drop it/take it to the proper threads

Also still no results other then the top 10? pathetic!!! Even a struggling castialla leon has almost immediate full results

Flor im well aware about 2009 and 2011, but this is the future not the past and currently on top form imho CF will win, Contador is a Legend in cycling that is in the book's im not doubting that. Contador is always gonna be their or their abouts. Im not a huge huge fan but if he won in his usual attacking style id be very happy. I defo think he will win GT'S, just not this years TDF. If it was all for Wiggo again id make Contador fav on this course.:D

 why are we discussing this here. Why are we even discussing it at all. Why am I even discussing anything with you

LP Nordhaug in the same group aswell. Bigger effort by Weening never the less..

Valverde was clearly the strongest between the favorites. Looks like he is getting ready for the only race that motivates him a little besides the tour (which doesn't suit him... everything else does.).

id say the vuelta and the worlds motivate him a little. Considering between the 2 races he has like 8 podiums

thanks @jaylew!

Impressive ride by Weening indeed if he made it to the foot of the cauberg, gets caught and still gets 7th!

Also nice to see TGBM 10th, considering he couldn't do Pais Vasco because he was ill. Despite a screwed up preparation, he got the same result as last year, hoping for more on FW and LBL from him.

If somebody had told me Kreuziger would win this in advance......

However Saxo need a moral boost, and it's great for Kreuziger after disappointing for quite some time now, switching back to become a domestique, that he gets such a good result! :D

I was wondering when someone would step in seen as both riders weren't even in the race today.

Super impressed with Roman and I'm glad he got the win does anyone know the extent of JR injury?, cheers

Ryder failed on the climb but he did ok to bridge that gap should've kept it for the climb. Gamble didn't pay off but encouraging signs.

Nordhaug has basically been sick and injured the entire year, he's only been healthy for one week now, and yet he rides so strongly. Very impressive. Maybe he'll be even better for L-B-L.

But it's also disturbing that Nordhaug with all these problems is a lot better than EBH has been all year...

He did a good solo ride at Quebec back in September too.

he tried an attack after the third cauberg but he was soon cought by the peloton. In any case he is more suited for the fleche wallone where he can be a serious contender especially with Purito out.

JTL didn't even manage to finish in the top 100

Good signing by Sky, clearly worth all the money they threw at him. I guess he goes into the category of evidently talented Sky signings who become ridiculously bad after signing for Sky.
