Participants

This year 4x the Cauberg instead of 3 times. In the final a lap with the bemelerberg and the cauberg, same as worlds course. So the Keutenberg/Cauberg combination in the final is no more (well it's still there, but a lap earlier.)

Wonder how this will pan out

The course was not great as it was, and they made it worse with this change...

Let's hope for an entertaining race.

I expect a copy of the Worlds, a group of 50 guys at the bottom of the Cauberg. And then an attack from a guy like Phil or Gerrans. Depends on the wind if the attackers will get caught by a group of about 15 riders

I'd be surprised if there was more than 20 together at the bottom of the Cauberg unless the weather is really bad. Amstel is much harder than that Worlds course.

If Phil can drop everyone on the Cauberg, he'll win.
If Sagan can stay with Phil up over the Cauberg, he'll win.
Gerrans for 3rd.

In the start of the year I said that EBH would fail in the cobbled classics and win AGR. Guess I'll stick to that...

...even though Sagan has to crash/puncture/get kidnapped by aliens for that to happen

with the new finish and Sagan in top shape, there are plenty of teams who have an interest to make this super hard from the start, so hope for a great race.

Is he even riding? Doesn't seem to be on the start list?

Don't forget hat in the past years there were always some 50 guys together at the bottom of the Keutenberg. In stead of last year where the Keutenberg was at about 15k from the finish, this year it's much further from the finish. Don't think any of the big guys is gonna attack there now. No need in attacking on the third Cauberg either since there is still so much time to organize an attack. People will wait and wait until the last Cauberg to launch their attacks.

According to Arvesen he's riding in support of Henao and Uran without personal ambitions, so I wouldn't expect too much. If anything, he might set the pace on one of the last climbs.

Following wheels and failing to make the top 15, I'm afraid. But I hope the Izagirre brothers prove me wrong.

I think the new course eliminates Purito as a winner. On the old course he actually had a chance.

The King of the Cauberg is back in form. He'll teach the young pretender a lesson on Sunday after feeding his ego in the warm up race on Wednesday.

To give him a protected role in P-R, where he has never shown anything, and make him do domestique duties on a route in which he has been 2nd before, would make no sense though. Also, Uran and Henao have said earlier that they don't like this race as they feel it's too stressful. Uran hasn't even started the last couple of years...
