middle of the road and undecided lance armstrong witnesses monthly meeting update -

Thanks to Lebanon Kansas the geographical middle of the USA for hosting the meeting. Our most successful meeting ever!!! I the Cheif Mas o menos Amrstrongo was able to convince my weekly riding partner that Lance may have indeed doped, which put him on the fence!!! Total membership now at 3!!!

In other club news a rousing disscussion was held on abortion in which we all left friends....as everyone was unsure of where they stood on the issue

Ok. Well, have at it. Analyze what Lance said. It doesn't take very long.

as i say could have been meant one of two ways..

very hard to judge if we dont know the team, was this early in the tour, late in the tour.. etc... could have been lance taunting the other team that astana where going to win the tour, maybe the other team was moaning their lack of tour contender.. which is pretty much like the cav/garmin taunting.. maybe lance was saying, we dont want alberto, you have him, maybe the other team was columbia and this was the day of hincapiegate.. who knows.. we have a bit of a story and not much else.. all tittle tattle and nonsense...
interesting to see we believe the press above everything else, they must be telling the truth...

to be honest, when i see a story with not a lot of substance, just a bit of rumour, its usually because there ISNT any substance..

its like posting in the newspaper that mike tyson smacked lennox lewis.. who is at fault.. what happened, we dont know...

There are numerous threads dedicated to blasting Lance; a person many claim to despise, but yet, can't stop discussing ad nauseam. What's worse is that all these threads offer the same trite accusations. Everyone has heard it all before. If you're so sick of him, stop bringing him up. Honestly, I admire the guy; I really do, but I am far bigger a fan of cycling, so let us please get back to discussing that which we love.

I really wish the mods would delete these threads as soon as they appear.

yeah thats a good idea......free speech bad.........make a choice dont force yours on everyone else..............

Thinking about Lance even more than Lance thinks about Lance

Seriously, some of you guys think about Lance MULTIPLE times EVERY day.

You probably think about Lance more than you think about your own mothers:(

Do Mum a favor and give her a call today! I guess its OK if you talk to her about Lance sigh.

I agree we need more context of the statements (maybe that was Hog's hook. He works for the magazine and is trying to drive up purchases), but I'm not sure if it matters what/who the team was so much as the tone in which Lance said it. From the description, it certainly reads as if it was a hostile scene, and that hostility was directed at AC (not the other team who is purportedly sitting in silence). So that tells me that this was either after Arcalis . . . or Stage 17 (Col de' Rom and Colombiere).

As for whether to take this at face value, it depends on whether it fits in with the other stories we've heard about the Astana team dynamics during the TdF. Seems to me that it does fit in with the allegations that things were tense at the dinner table. That LA only wanted to celebrate his successes and not AC's. That the dinner after Stage 17 was especially tense, with AC purportedly apologize to each rider personally. Or that Lance skipped the celebratory dinner to have dinner with Radio Shack folks.

If the story had been that AC and LA were making jokes and discussing how they were playing the media with their false tension, etc., that might be hard to believe in light of the other stories swirling around. But this one seems consistent with what has been said previously....

Long story BlackCat - I didn't read more than a few lines, but it is apparent you must REALLY hate Lance to come up with that. Do you feel inadequate when you think about Lance?

Always a good argument, "I didn't bother to listen to anything you were saying but you are obviously full of crap because you disagree with what I think".

The good news is Contador probably couldn't understand what Lance was saying. If a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it, did it really fall?

Not true. Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean that I didn't take the time to read what you were saying first. In fact reading and understanding your posts is generally the perfect prelude to disagreeing with you.

That is one SWEET comeback!

Wow, must be true then eh? A bit like when "it was reported that" aliens have been sighted etc.

7 Tour victories, millions raised for cancer charity - gee, what a w@nker. Muppets.

I, too, view the story as somewhat apocryphal.

But then the poster gives us the usual Lance-apologism, undercutting his own credibility.

We all would serve the forum well to TRY to at least make the effort to post with a sense of intellectual honesty. At least half the time.

It gets wearying.

I guess I'd have to be there to see how it really went down, to see the context of it. For all we know it could have been a joke or something. There's always lots of rumours and gossip about Armstrong.

Also this thread was started by 'the hog', who is famous for spreading inaccurate rumours about transfers and signings.

It's already been said better - if there were not so many other stories: the team cars sent to the airport so Contador couldn't get to the TT, the hostile twitters, the exclusion then it might be possible to develop an alternate reading (cf 'let him have it') but, given the weight of evidence, the 'joke' explanation seems like a straw clutcher even for the most dedicated acolyte.

The stories are tittle tattle. As you can see there a lot of people who don't like him and constantly spread this stuff. What is true we don't know, but you can hardly trust some of the characters here.
