Re: Re:

sir fly -
Unfortunately, the phone camera in a hand that has just finished a 50k ride can't conjure the full image.
The river you see is the Danube.
Ah, so somewhere in Europe then, how's the water level on the Danube? (50k, btw? Nice!)

Here's a piccy I took of the Willamette River just now (in Oregon, US), the water level is dreadfully low. So much so that I don't even want to get a fishing license this year because I feel so bad for the fish.

And here's just a photo of me on the bridge over the Willamette, just want to say hello to you all, hope your next ride is fun! :)

30°C, around 10kph wind, 53% humidity, partly cloudy.

It's the eastern side of the upper location.
@Tricycle Rider
Water level of the Danube is below seasonal average. It's not surprising considering the dryer winter we've had. And there hasn't been huge rainfalls this spring (so far).

Is it Romania? Sir fly, am I getting warmer?

Couldn't ride today, unfortunately, had a mechanical with my '67 VW Bug. The brake lights went out, had to check/replace everything I know how to (bulbs, fuses)...

The old '67 seems to be behaving herself, for now. (Have no idea about the electrical wiring, though. I'd have to say that that woud be my biggest weakness.)

Would be a shame not to, that looks like some lovely 'fly' water there :)

ps wouldn't like to see her angry if that is dreadfully low!

As a native Oregonian (heck, I'm still an Oregonian, I'm just out of state for a little while!) I completely understand.

I managed to get some very good rides in of late, as our weather has been fairly cool and breezy, and mostly cloudy. Rode both on the road and MTB.

And last time you were here in this thread, it was freezing and cold and snow everywhere. What a difference two months makes!

You're quite right, when I go riding along the Willamette I usually only see fly fisherpeople, but fly fishing is much too advanced for me, so I just go fishing for trout on the McKenzie River and do it the easier way.

No matter, it's only May, but by the time summer is over there will be no joy in fishing at all - there will be very little water left in the rivers at all, which is why I feel so badly for the fish now.

Dude, nice looking trail! (You and yours are always welcome to come back to Oregon.:))

Can't quite comment on your bike, though (seeing as I know absolutely squat about Mtn bikes), and thusly, cannot quite comment on how much damage it does to the aforementioned trail.

Wasn't able to ride again today, unfortunately, being the ole '67 (67 VW Bug) needed an oil change, plus the head lights needed some adjusting... neither went terribly smoothly, I must admit. (Every goddamn nut and bolt is goddamn stuck... it makes me feel like I'm working on that ole 70's Schwinn bike all over again!)

Anyhoo, working on bikes taught me a lot - mostly it taught me patience (for the love of all that is aero - don't strip those threads!), and thusly, I'm much more patient working on my old car now. :)

As for the weather here - sunny, about 77F, very windy.

Just got back from my usual 10k along the Willamette river (took the "Not a Bianchi" out for a spin), wanted to make it home before it got dark.

Lots of flying bugs out there in the eve (it's always a good idea to wear some sort of protective eye wear, anyway), but it was absolutely gorgeous otherwise.

About 77F, bit of a breeze, and if you time yourself just right you can see the sun go down.

Low 60's and rainy for the last week. Depressing weather...gimme sunshine. :)
Hon, you're more than welcome to our sun, we're about to hit the first heat wave of the year. Over the weekend it's supposed to be sunny, 91F in my parts... blech!

(At least it will be breezy and cooler over by the river where I ride, this kind of heat is about the only time where I actually welcome the wind. [Not terribly aero, I realize.] )

Ha ha I'm hard to please though. I complain once it gets into the 90's as well. :) Supposedly the rain is suppose to stop here tomorrow. It'll be in the 70's - that's my kind of biking weather. :)

The way I see it I just ride by the river because I would consider this the "Poor Man's Airconditiong".

(Providing there is actually any water left in the river.)

It's supposed to be 90F today, and while I wouldn't mind this while riding I am currently experiencing a horrific toothache (lower right molar), so once again I'm off the bike. I can barely concentrate, but in the US dentists hold bankers' hours, they don't work on Sundays.

Still, I wanted to share a very intimate picture with you all, I call this my "little corner of mirth". (Bike tools, can you EVER get enough of them?! :D)

(Please don't mind the positioning of the handlebars on the bike [or even the bike itself], I have some back and knee issues, so am constantly trying to optimize the bike so it won't hurt the back too much.)

winter here in Perth (Australia):

FRI: Decreasing Clouds. Cool. 21 km/h SE 14-20 (c)
SAT: Scattered Clouds. Cool. 14 km/h SE 8-19
SUN: Sunny. Cool. 13 km/h ESE 7-19
MON: High Level Clouds. Cool. 18 km/h E 8-20
TUE: Morning Clouds. Cool. 24 km/h ENE 11-20

Yesterday was 37C and heat index supposedly 47C! Was almost unbearable as we haven't got aircon. Had a nice rainfall this morning and it's a much more bearable 33C, although feels cooler. Hopefully it remains coolish for a run after work.

Sunny, about 77F, the air is still.

Went for my first ride today since my unfortunate tooth debacle over a week ago (this tooth saga involved an emergency root canal, a trip to the ER due to too much swelling after the root canal, then another trip to the dentist for an abscessed tooth... currently I'm on clindamycin, and in the ER I had a shot of Decadron. [Oh damn, I'm a doper now!])

Anyhoo, now that I'm feling halfway human again I took the "Little White Porsche" out for my usual 10k, and I can't even begin to describe how good it felt. Feck speed, time, being aero, and all that other jive, it just felt good to ride again.

Was sunny, about 80F, and breezy during my latest 10k endeavor. As for the mechanicals with my "Not a Bianchi", well, where do I begin.

So I'm just riding, and once I kick it into 6 in the back (I'm sure everyone has their own numbering system) I not just hear, but I actually feel a grinding noise.

So I'm thinking - is it the new bottom bracket I may have poorly installed, or is it my rear wheel/hub?

Naturally, I keep on riding (and thankfully my bike didn't fall apart on me), but once I got home I checked the bottom bracket (it needed a little bit of tightening), but it was the rear wheel hub where the loose type of ball bearings were falling apart. (I might have tried to do some sort of hub adjustments recently, didn't realize I had lost a loose ball in the process.)

To make this very long story short - thankfully I have enough of extra balls to pack this type of hub, so the "Not a Bianchi" is all ready to go again. :)

PS- I absolutely love the mechanical side of bikes/cycling, am still very much a beginner, though.

Sunny, was about 80F, terribly windy...

At some point a daughter has to quit shouting at her elderly dad to get his shifting corrected - I am at this point. (Love my dad dearly, but his bike shifting is just a terrible fright. I just have to give up on this while riding with him...)

Make no mistake, though, my dad will get back at me once we start doubles' kayaking again.

Anyhoo, Happy Father's Day (here in the US today) to all you sporty Dads out there! (We still love you, no matter the pain.)
