So your saying I had a logical thought instead of an evans thought?:D

Giro thread coming!

No, it was clearly an Evans thought - "...which is not such a bad thing" - spoken like Cuddles himself!

Cool, a le tour thread we all know its the only race that counts. I was getting sick of thinking about Roubaix, Flanders Amstel and the Giro when Lance isn’t even racing in these events they're just full of greasy foreigners who can’t even speak English and are all charging.

My Predictions

1. Lance
2. Some foreigner (+15.00)
3. Some other foreigner (+16.00)

57. Bertie Beatle

All stages, jerseys and teams classification won by RadioPalace.

Get it right, Lance will be going for the win at Amstel Gold.

Shocked? Why?

Once LA gets dropped on first major climb, Kloden should be able to ride for himself and there is always some surprise so thats why VDB.

Maybe F.Schleck should be higher but I would say his form is deteriorating every year and he is a poor in ITT. Sastre may try to win a stage but he will be cooked after the Giro.

I'm only surprised there are no complaints/attacks for not having Wiggings on the list. Prediction...He will crash on cobbles :D

Contador will just crush everyone in July, only things that will prevent him from winning third Tour if he crashes or gets sick, or somehow tests positive which is not gonna happen in this world.

Andy needs to make some insane time on the climbs if he wants to be on the podium in Paris. He will lose big chunks of time on the final TT.

If Menchov shows up at Tour with his 2009 Giro form, he's gonna be a major factor in the race.

Is this 19 GT riders plus Boasson Hagen put in random order?

I hold my hands up to this insanity! If only I'd listened to my head, been sensible, forgotten about Kreuziger and put AC where he should have been, I may have gotten away with having Samu and Valverde in the wrong order but ho hum.

So now for some more picks that will also likely be horribly wrong and are also partly based on wishful thinking and gut instinct rather than cold, hard, informed analysis...

As we all know team class is all that matters. Can't believe I had to plow through 16 posts of meaningless rider podium positions just to get to the 1st post to predict the team.

RS in a rout on Team.

Who do people think actually have some realistic chance of beating AC?

I mean, we all put Schleck 2nd or around there, but he can at best match him in the mountains, and then lose quite a bit on the TT. Sanchez is better at the TT than Piti, and they're pretty equal in the mountains (apart from Sierra Nevada 09) - these two haven't been in a GT with AC since 08 to properly compare to him in the mountains. Gesink, Kreuziger and Nibali can all climb and TT, but they're probably still a step away from properly challenging. Kreuziger's probably a bit ahead of those two?

I can see Menchov sticking to Andy and AC (not on every MTF obviously) like he stuck to Di Luca if he's in great form. And he'll beat them both on the flat TT. I think, assuming nothing untoward (injury etc) happens to AC, that Menchov is the only guy who has a chance..

It's not that unlikely that some GC contenders will take quite a lot of time on AC on the cobbles, perhaps more than 5 minutes even if he has some punctures +falls+bad team support. Don't think he'd be able to take back 5 minutes on Andy Schleck, although he'd probably still be close.

Contador needs to win a 3-week race with his team.
If you've been watching Paris-Nice, you'd know by now he'll be in trouble in this year's TdF.

going uphill they are great. but contador needs support on the flats! If you look at the stage after he won in Algarve, he was on his own and isolated. He had one guy who finished out the back of the peleton!

Can't see him losing 5 minutes tbh. Do we know how many km's of cobbles there will be yet?

The stage with cobbles is not Paris-Roubaix and its summer time so conditions are different. AC losing 5 minutes is just wishful thinking. I dont think there are that many kms of cobbles. You think Contador is gonna lose more time in one stage than he is likely to gain back over all the mountains. Maybe we should have Tours with cobbled stages instead of mountains stages.

It´s pretty tough to predict TdF in march but I believe Alberto Contador is a red hot favourite. Maybe Andy Schleck can offer some fight, he is fantastic as well. Other guys (Valverde, Nibali, Sastre,...) they would have to be in an unbelieveable shape to win it.
As for Armstrong I don´t believe he can win it, but it is always dangerous to underestimate him....

I agree, so many different variables can happen before and during the tour.

p.s. welcome to the forum!
