MADRAZO said:
110 nice points for Thibault Ferasse today, winning Boucles de la Mayenne overall and bringing him to 148 points this year, from 2 points. Almost in the Evenepoel league of picks so far. Thats the kind of results needed to challenge Fauniere so I hope the rest of my team gets inspired. But ofcourse during the same 3 days Pogacar scores 54 points further and will likely just continue like this all year, so it will be very hard to catch him indeed.
Very good pick. Never even heard of Ferasse before.

But i can counter that with Daniel Munoz, who scored 136 points last week. And hopefully will go on to have a succesful Tour of Hungary.

Nice counter with Munoz :) I did considder him, but amongst the many young cheap Columbians I felt he was maybe the least interesting one, though there were some hyping him together with Florez. I guess they were right to do so afterall. Nice pick. He is for sure not making catching you any easier.

Ferasse is nothing special, but mostly a solid allrounder, also with a good finish. He was just one of the riders that did well for Continental team Armee De Terre in 2017, but who had to ride a year with the french amateurs in 2018 (doing well there) after that team suddenly closed and he did not have time to get a new contract. So he was therefore very cheap this year, getting a new continentalteam-contract. And good to see him doing well.

Update 11

An interesting update, with 3 more obscure names scoring over 100 points. Of course I mean Edoardo Affini, Dani Muñoz and Thibault Ferasse. Affini scored 121 points, mainly thanks to his stage win and 4th place at the Tour of Norway. Muñoz won the overall at the Tour of Bihor in Romania, and Ferasse won the Boucles de la Mayenne. All three of them were cheap picks, at 41, 6 and 2 points and they were only picked 20 times between the 3 of them. Chapeau to those with one of multiple of these guys on their team!

Joelsim did well to pick both Affini and Muñoz. On top of that, he scored significant points with riders like Evenepoel, Pidcock, Thijssen and Paret-Peintre. He is this update's highest scorer and also moves up 5 spots which makes him joint 2nd in the highest movers ranking, together with Jpettersen, who got points from, amongst others, Muñoz, Evenepoel and Paret-Peintre.

DJW was the second highest scorer. He also has Affini, and added significant points from Nieuwenhuis and rare pick Champoussin. Those nice picks earn him the top spot on the highest movers rankings, he climbed 7 places.

Ludwigzgz is the third highest scorer, he combined points from Affini, Nieuwenhuis, Pogacar and a couple others.

Overall, we see that Joelsim climbs to 4th overall and we also see Karaev1 climb and Ludwigzgz enter the top-10. Fauniera remains the leader, but MADRAZO got a little closer.

Also, we got some significant news this week: MVP MVDP will race again near the end of the season, and not just any race. Could be many more points awaiting those who selected him!

Update 12

High scores across the board, thanks to Evenepoel's big score in the Tour of Belgium, but due to his popularity, this only matters little. More important is Pogacar's 99-point score. He keeps adding to his already impressive tally.

We have two highest scorers this week, comodoro and Ludwigzgz. Comodoro scored with Evenepoel, Pogacar and rare picks Hayter, Barbier and Pronskiy. Ludwigzgz got points from amongst others De Decker and Byriel Iversen, besides Evenepoel and Pogacar.
Only 1 point behind these two is our leader fauniera, who received a nice amount of points for Muñoz' performance in Hungary, but after his Tour of Bihor win he might have hoped for a bit more.

Because almost all of us scored significant points with Evenepoel and not much else, there isn't a whole lot of movement. Worth noting is that 18-Valve moves up 3 spots, thanks to 71 points from his unique pick Attila Vallter. Nice choice!

Overall, of course fauniera has extended their lead. MADRAZO remains second and comodoro is now third. Lower in the top-10 we also see Ludwigzgz climb from 10th to 8th.

Update 13

The weeks leading up to the Tour are always a bit slow, with only the National championships and a couple minor races on the calendar. This year was no different, but those smaller races prove an excellent opportunity for our youngsters to show themselves.
Trudgin is this update's highest scorer, with points from amongst others Evenepoel, Affini, rare picks Muñoz, Caicedo, Touze and also unique pick Umberto Marengo. With this score, Trudgin is also the highest mover - climbing 7 spots

The second highest scorer is comodoro. Notable names on his squad include Leknessund, Touze, Hayter, Evenepoel and Affini. Third highest scorer is LukasCPH. His rather unique team scored highly with Hirschi, Evenepoel, Leknessund and unique pick Niklas Larsen. LukasCPH moves up 2 spots, which makes him the joint 2nd highest mover together with Squire.

Not much to note with regards to the overall ranking. The only notable movement is comodoro climbing 1 place to 2nd, pushing MADRAZO down into 3rd.

As I will be away for almost 4 weeks from Saturday I am looking for people to take over the updates for the week of 22 July and 5 August. If I can't find anyone I'll have to do them in retrospect or do one big update near the end of the week of 12 August.
Please let me know if you can take care of an update!

Update 14
I'm back with a massive update. Thanks to Evenepoel's exploits, we pretty much have high scores across the board. Highest scorer is DJW, who not only got major points from Evenepoel but also from Hirschi, De Bod, Gibson, Affini and Honoré.
Second highest scorer is Jpettersen, who also has Evenepoel, Honoré and Hirsch, as well as Muñoz, Paret-Peintre and Pidcock.
Third highest scorer is Trudgin. Her golden combo was Evenepoel, De Bod, Affini, Muñoz and rare pick Caicedo, with several added smaller scores as well.

Our highest scorer DJW is also our highest mover, but he shares the honors with two others: Armchair_Cyclist and Wallenquist. Armchair_Cyclist's scored with amongst others Evenepoel, De Bod, Vingegaard, Affini and Honoré, while Wallenquist has Evenepoel, Hirschi, Vingegaard, Muñoz and Honoré.

Overall, there is very little to note. The only movement in the top-10 is Joelsim grabbing the third spot on the podium, pushing MADRAZO down to 4th.

Update 15

While we're all focused on the last Grand Tour of the season, la Vuelta, let's have a look at the most recent update for our game. There is one very obvious winner, LukasCPH, who outscored his closest rival by over 200 points. He's got his Nordic-centered team to thank for it, as he scored big points with unique pick Niklas Larsen, winner of the Tour of Denmark. He added to that with major points from Marc Hirschi and Jonas Vingegaard (both on 7 teams), and also near-unique pick Tobias Foss. Of course, LukasCPH is also the big winner in the highest mover classification, climbing a massive 13 places.
Second highest scorer, with a still very respectable 321 points, is Wallenquist. Hirschi and Vingegaard are on his team as well, and he got some minor points for a couple other riders. Wallenquist is the second highest mover as well, climbing 5 spots.
Third highest scorer is DJW. He has Hirschi and also saw several other riders score a couple dozen points each, one of them being Aksel Nommela, DJW's unique pick and one of the most expensive riders in the game. DJW is also the third highest scorer.

Overall, there isn't much movement in the top-10. shawnm4747 and Karaev1 both climb 1 spot, which causes MADRAZO (who must've enjoyed Wednesday's stage a lot :) ) to drop 2 places.

Update 16

Time for the post-Vuelta update. The past few weeks have been great for our game, with two of the big hitters, Pogacar and Van der Poel, adding more points to their already impressive tally. Of course Pogacar is the one who impressed us most, with 3 stage wins and a third place overall at the Vuelta, while Van der Poel just did what he always does as he's a machine.

Naturally, our leader, fauniera, is top scorer this update, as he's the only one with both riders on his squad. His score is absolutely massive, over 900 points, but note that this update actually includes points for the past 3 weeks instead of 2 as usual.
Ludwigzgz is the second highest scorer. He has Pogacar and also scored with quite a few other riders, amongst others Jaako Hänninen and Edoardo Affini.
Comodoro is the third highest scorer, besides Pogacar he also got significant points from Pierre Barbier, plus some smaller points.

This update's highest mover is Jon Ezeitza, rising to 11th overall, and Josedin and Leadbelly share 2nd place in the highest mover rankings.

Overall, of course fauniera solidifies his lead even further. Karaev1 manages to jump onto the podium as Joelsim and shawnm4747 drop 1 spot each. In the lower part of the top-10 we see our Spanish friends Josedin and Kryvo make a leap into the top-10.

Update 17
The Worlds are behind us, which pretty much leaves only one important week of racing still on the calendar. Let's have a look at the most recent events in our game.
Interestingly, I was the highest scorer, with my unique pick Samuele Battistella (U23 World Champion after that controversial DSQ) pushing me ahead of the others. Other big scorers for me were Evenepoel, Affini and Tanfield.

Shawnm4747 is the second highest scorer. He has Evenepoel, Affini and Dainese as his main scorers, and Van der Poel scored some points as well, but not nearly as much as expected.
Third highest scorer DJW shares big scorers Evenepoel, Affini and Tanfield with me.

There wasn't much movement overall, with most notably me moving up 5 positions (to 24th - woohoo!). Squire and rote_lanterne both climbed 2 places. In the top-10 we only see Ludwigzgz and MADRAZO swap places. Fauniera has an almost 400-point lead, which should be more than enough to secure the win in the following couple of weeks.

Final update
Time flies, we've already (pretty much) reached the end of the 2019 cycling season, so it's time for one last update. Highest scorer us rote_lanterne, she scored with several rare picks like Damien Touze, Clément Champoussin and Arvid de Kleijn. Second highest scorer is shawnm4747, but it wasn't enough to move onto the overall podium for him. DJW is the third highest scorer. Due to the low scores there isn't much movement overall, but Trudgin still climbs two spots.
It's hardly surprising, but we can crown fauniera as the winner (officially there are still some races on the calendar, but it seems highly unlikely those will have an impact on the final standings). Looks like he pulled off a rare double, winning both the main CQ game and our youth game  Congrats to fauniera and the other two on the podium, comodoro and Karaev1, and thanks to all for playing!

First time playing this game and I finished mid pack. I'm happy with that.
You did better than me!

I feel like I should mention that there is a pretty decent chance I won't organize the game next year. I'll have to think about it a bit, because I realize that likely means the game won't run next year. I've struggled to keep up with this game + another one I'm running on Velorooms for the last couple of years, but I don't think people mind as long as there's someone who can collect all the teams and occasionally post an update. Next year I'm hopefully finishing university and will be out of the country for the second half of 2020, which means I'll have even less time. As a last resort, if I can't find anyone to take over I might be able to do the 'big work' in the first half of the year and then let the game run its course with hopefully a couple updates by other players in the meantime. But like I said I'll have to think about it.

I made a table with the results of the last 3 editions of the game. 10 points to the first, 9 points to the second, 8 points to the third ... etc
