R.A.B.C. [Ladies Team] is to the sharks, in a struggle to survive 'it was not to be' and will disappear after 3 years in the peloton according to Velowallon:
Velowallon : En 2011, tu restes chez RABC?
Marie-Pierre Thonon : Non, l'équipe RABC a arrêté la catégorie dames.
One stage victory last year in Holland Ladies Tour by Martine Bras was their share before now pulling the plug, we write December 11, 2010 [Vwallon]

It's actually a worse year than that, since Martine Bras was only on their roster as a guest rider; she normally rode for Gauss in 2010, and her stage win in the Holland Ladies Tour was for the mixed team Merida-Gauss (http://www.hollandladiestour.nl/index.php/lang-en/deelnemers) - though I think her national calendar win at Burcht may have been for RABC...

It's a shame to see a small team go, the national calendars in the Low Countries are one of the few real sources of development outside of the élite events for women.

Kim Kirchen: probably no races in 2011.

It has been rather evident for a while: Kim Kirchen will not be part of Katusha in 2011. Andrei Tchmil had already said that he considered the risk too big to let Kirchen ride again on his team. Even though Kirchen had signed a 2-year contract, he will be let go due to a detail in the contract, which says that any rider who is inactive for 6 months is automatically no longer part of the team.

The medical team around Kirchen will now conduct more tests, in order to make a diagnosis. Without having full certainty on his condition, the father of two will not ride again. He wants to take a definitive decision in January.

Armando Ariel Borrajo has committed suicide at 34 years old yesterday. He was the Argentine champ of 2006 and brother of Anibal Andres (Jamis) and Alejandro Alberto (ex-Panaria), the last broke his arm trying to prevent the suicide. There was some kind of conspiracy and kidnapping going on involving the election of the new prez for the National cycling Federation. We write December 19, 2010 [bici]

Florian Stalder (28) BMC racing from Swiss calls it quits.

According to Il Giornale di Vicenza, for Mauro Facci (28) cycling, is over. After eight years professional, the Italian rider will retire. Mouro found no contract for this season. As a member of Quick Step from 2007 to 2010, he was the rider to go as many miles as possible in escapes during the Giro d'Italia 2009. His best years remain those of the beginning: when he wore the jersey of Fassa Bortolo, finishing a second in Semaine Coppi Bartali. That was in 2005. For him we register January 16, 2011 [tuttobici]

Yesterday, Sunday, January 16, 2011 a tragic car accident has taken away talented Marco Revello, 24 years of Ceva, who rode with determination and was until this season wearing the jersey of team Petroli Firenze Scandicci.

Petroli Firenze Scandicci:
There are no words to describe the state of mind that comes over me, which is above every one of us who know you. You have entered the hearts of all those who got to know you and you have your heart opened to many, sharing your love for cycling. A love for the bike that started almost by accident after playing soccer for years, but that had always existed within you. From the first pedal, moves together, you showed that love to go hard with that inseparable companion, who is cycling. We cycled thousands of miles together, up and down the hills and valleys in between our houses, then you have continued to ride in the most of everything and everyone, never gave up, and now you have taken the route for the ascent infinite that took you away from us. But too many are the memories that bind me and us with whom you shared a passion for cycling because it is a tragic car accident to take you away from our minds.

At this day of mourn we write January 16, 2011 [tuttobiciweb.it]

It's over. No introduction needed:

AP Exclusive: Lance Armstrong retires for good; comeback didn't produce title, erase shadow

Almost a month after finishing 65th in his last competitive race in Australia, and nearly six years removed from the last of an unprecedented seven straight Tour de France titles, the 39-year-old cyclist made clear there is no reset button this time.
