It is certainly not the most probable scenario, but it is possible that a small group of riders will be able to take advantage of the Valle Olona circuit and keep the margin up to Legnano. The most likely to look for an attack from afar is of course Remco Evenepoel (Deceuninck-Quick-Step), which has already demonstrated several times that it does not participate in competitions just to be present.

When Masnada attacked coming out of a railway underpass, so the same time Pinot and Battistella got dropped too. Only he went a lot slower.

Puppio was already dropped on the Piccolo Stelvio earlier on, but managed to come back. He was clearly the weakest climber in the group.
