No surprise by Bernal or Majka.

Tolhoek in 4th is pretty unexpected, where did that come from?
Quit the sleeping pills? Is actually riding awake?
Lmao

Bernal did what expected, just too easy. Will watch later - Sivakov a bit disappointing, no?
Wasn't really following Sivakov. Guaranteed to develop slower, but may just not be the new Eddy Merckx. Could still be a solid rider, we'll see.

Hart very impressive. Majka good, Yates good. Bernal, just a scary scary talent. Would love to see him given a free reign at the Vuelta...
Who else is gonna lead Sky at the Vuelta?
Knowing Sky they’ll probably have him riding tempo for Geraint.
except when Bernal drops GT.

He’d have to pull his radio out as well. :)

Bernal has led every single race he started for Sky, so I doubt that.

And with Froome's form I think it's clear Thomas is gonna go all out in the Tour. It's his chance to usurp him and make himself number one at Sky, which of course wont happen as he will crash out

Only races he actually led were TDU and Cali. The rest were all circumstantial. Henao was the designated leader for Oro y Paz and Catalunya, Thomas was for Romandia.

Brilliant Bernal!

Decent rides by Majka and Yates too.

More than decent day 2 back from a broken pelvis

Hope Tejay is a good saver because he is going to be making a lot less money when his contract ends
Tejay is good at riding tempo on more moderate gradients at high altitude and has (or at least had) decent TT skills, he could still finish on the podium.

Even if he finishes on the podium it won’t change the fact that he’s heading for a significant pay cut.
Yes, but least year he still managed to win a stage at the Giro, did well in some shorter stages races and somehow finished 10th in the Vuelta, so he'll probably still get decent money even after a paycut.
That said, he has been pretty bad this season and he probably should focus more on one week stage races.

I think he's going to have to come to terms with the fact that he's not really a GC guy anymore and really should be more of a top domestique.

Tejay is really inconsistent though, one day he climbs close to world class, next day he abandons. That's not what you want from a super-domestique.

I actually think at least part of that is his head. Which is why I've thought for a couple years now that he needs a change of teams. A team that already has a solid leadership order like Movistar, Bahrain-Marida, or M-S could be a good fit. Say you go to a GT at Movistar with Landa and Valverde, then send Tejay as one of the Doms, he'd actually be just as much of a help to them on the flats as in the mountains and in the mountains if he has an off day Landa and Valverde would still be together anyway. At Bahrain you've got Nibali solidly as the top leader with the Izagirre brothers next. Same at M-S with Chaves and the Yates twins. Tejay should be a very big help in those type of teams where if he has a bad day in the mountains it wouldn't be as devastating as they have other climbers, esp Movistar and Bahrain. His big engine, esp when it comes to TTs would be as valuable if not more valuable to those teams.
Then again at Movistar send your 5 top GC guys: Valverde, Landa, Quintana, Soler, and Amador. Why not throw Tejay in there as well. I would almost think there he'd be treated more as a rouler than necessarily a mountain goat. However, he'd have to take a pay cut and understand he's basically got a very small chance to lead that team anywhere.

I love the graphics in these American races!

I like the graphic that has Sean Bennett as the Stage 3 winner, before the stage is over.
