Five together at the front now, 7km to go, with Cofidis in a very enviable position. The gap is not massive (20 seconds I think), but the chasing group is only 20 or so riders.

Greipel has been dropped by the chasing group. What happened to those climbing skills of his that all the Cav-haters were talking up around M-SR?

To be fair though I dont think Cav would be winning this stage either.

Oh, neither do I.

Wow, Cofidis somehow managed to put three guys in the winning move of 5 and end up with 3rd, 4th and 5th. Not the smartest racing I have ever seen. Taaramae launched super early with Spilak and Visconti on his wheel, immediately gapping both of his team-mates and then burning out before the finish.

Some fine tactics by Cofidis there: three men in a group of five, finishing 3d, 4th, and 5th.

edit: same as above.

A little tactical gem.
You would have thought Cofidis had it in the bag, since they knew they had to work over Visconti.
But the group chasing meant they had to keep driving.
Excellent stage.
Turkey seems adept at producing spot on parcours, that can end up with any number of different finishes.:)

You don't need to climb for M-SR you just need power, power Greipel has. That climb here was totally different.
I even think Cavendish wouldn't have stayed in contention for the GC today as Greipel did.

Funny ride for Cofidis today, something must have gone wrong here today :D
But Visconti fully deserves this win.

I think the reason Taaramäe had to go off so early is that the chasers were closing and he knew every second was valuable and just before the corner, things started slowing down...

Looks like another tough day of racing out there, a lot of people have been dropped already. Break of 11 including Moncoutie, Viscotie and Van Garderen has three minutes on a reduced chasing pack of about 40 riders.

I think the front group will make it. ISD will keep up the pace and the peloton is small now. Amazing move.

If the group stays away then it will be Visconti, Moncoutie and Tejay Van Garderen battling it out for the GC tomorrow, since the last three stages look pretty flat.

Looks like the move is going to stick, and Taaramae will lose his jersey. One would imagine that Moncoutie would be fresh for the sprint since he has not had to work in the break, but after yesterday's performance it wouldn't surprise me if he manages to finish last in the group.

moncoutie doesn't have a sprint and he's not explosive so no chance he will ever win

Visconti must be the fastest in this group, no? Plus he had borghini and gatto to do his work, so he must be pretty fresh as well. Any details on the finish? Supposedly slightly uphill, but commentators on norwegian eurosport admit they don't have the specifics.

Looks uphill according to the profile. Visconti has done a fair bit, while a couple have done squat, so I'm not sure whether someone will get the jump on him.
