Yes they should be happy indeed!

Anyway, I'm anxious to see how the ITT turns out, and is AC allowed to start with his originally planned one?

No, going to specialized transition bike. I wonder how close they can get the setups on those two bikes.

I think Roessler could be one of the best signings made by RadioShack, he can win short TTs and therefore short stage races that are decided by TTs and he is also a decent one day rider as illustrated by his win today. What odds Roessler being the most winning rider at the Shack this year.

With an astana team completely behind AC it's hard to believe he will lose many races he competes in.
Kudos to the champ.

Are you saying they weren't totally behind AC last year? Total BS !!!!

Of course, they had knives in their hands .....

Congrats to radioshack, first win for a new team. I was a little surprised at first that Astana would let a break with a Radioshack guy go, but then I realised the rivalry isn't there.

I agree. They saw a guy who was 15:00 down on GC. Erviti was more of a threat. I thought maybe a team looking for a sprint win might chase harder. Astana is really focused on what they need to do, and also what they don't.

Contador tweeted that after a lively stage he had to train on his "new" TT bike. I hope he can pull that off tomorrow.

There isn't.

It would have been a serious red flag if Astana went into the red trying to chase down a break when the closest man on GC was 5:11 down from AC. I was surprised that none of the other teams (say Caisse or Columbia or Katusha) didn't mount an earlier effort to pull them back so that they could have something to show for this stage race. That's what I was expecting to happen.

Astana did exactly as they should, control GC...why chase so HTC can win something else? With bonus seconds it makes even more sense to deliberately leave a break away.

Did Astana even bring a sprinter? lol

They were pathetic today. Nearest rider to AC almost seventy riders away. No protection. Two riders at sucking end of the main group and a DNF.

The entire Radio Shack team finished ahead of the second Astana rider. I'm telling you the entire team blew up getting AC into position yesterday. They have nothing left. Damn good thing this is almost over.

Twenty first in the teams classification, and the TT bike fiasco? This does not look good. They suck.

Power of the Pink Jersey!

Tiago Machado is wearing the "Pink" Jersey as the
best placed Portugese rider:

Portugese riders classification
1 Tiago Machado (Por) Team RadioShack
2 Rui Costa (Por) Caisse d'Epargne
3 Sergio Paulinho (Por) Team RadioShack

I like to see it when "homeboys" win their Country's races!

So, how does Tiago TT?
Will the "Power of the Pink" Jersey give Tiago extra untangibles?
An extra 15 seconds over Alberto in order to WIN the overall GC?
Does Tiago have a better TT wheelset than Alberto?

That's normal.

I'm expecting an absolute maximum effort by Contador in the ITT. He will want to win the GC as his part in rewarding all the hard work by his team. There is of course the bike issue...

On the other hand, Radio Shack seems to have had some plans so maybe Levi held back a bit on Stage 3 with the intent of showing up big in the ITT. Then again, he is 36 so his 2008 Vuelta ITT against Contador is probably not going to happen again.

DeMol was talking down Levi's form, so I suspect that means he's feeling good. I think they (Radio Shack) are going to go all out to leapfrog AC. Not sure how his bike issues are going to work out or if it will have little affect. We'll know shortly.

Thanks for the info!

Tiago will get to wear his Home Town Advantage
Portugese National TT Jersey presented by RadioShack.

Spanish TT Champ versus the Portugese TT Champ.

Hope neither will need an in-race wheel change:(

Given that both are TT champions, I think it is outright sacrilege that you posted that 2005 Rasmussen nightmare. Gawd, I had forgotten how painful that was to watch LIVE. He just collapsed under the weight of expectations.

For me, it never gets old. He made up for it in the TDF TT in '07 when he caught the rider in front of him.

Or as I like to call it, Exhibit A.

(Guess I won't post my sig on this one.) ;)

Wasn't that Valverde he caught? I was embarrassed for him that day.
