pereiro's 5:07 is the first sign of form from him. also sastre's 5:15 is respectable for a 5-minute effort.

Paul Voss of Milram has taken it. Paul who? Leipheimer second (clearly coming in to his ToC form), Kloden third.

Paul Voss, probably better known in the cyclocross world where he had some good results, good world cup races as espoir, 2nd at european champs.

Perfect for prologues, cyclocross riders are good in those (Boom in PN, Voss here...)

Uhm... Il Giro d'Italia, two stage wins and a GC podium not enough? The poor guy did four grand tours in a row, so I it's not strange he'd run out of energy and motivation.

My post should have been more specific but my reference was simply to recant Sastre's history prior to the Tour. I am well aware of his stellar performance at last year's Giro but prior to 2009, Sastre did compete in several races prior to the Tour but seldom did he really show he was interested in competing for a podium spot in any of them--that I can recall.

This was not meant to deride Sastre or to be seen as a criticism of him but simply a statement of how he used these races as prep for the Tour. It always seemed to work too, like clockwork where he is always seemingly getting stronger in the 3rd week or maybe is less tired than most of his competitors.

My bad for not being specific.

Mark Cavendish finish better than lulu. what's up with that? I know it is a short TT but who would have predicted that.

just took a look at the start list, didn't realise before now just how strong the field is.

Zabriskie placed 94. not impressive form, but as far as I can recall he was below par in Murcia as well.

Cavendish wont the prologue of the tour of romandie back in 2008. That was 1.9km so he does well in the short prologues.

Cav's always gone well in super-short time trials, I presume thanks to his track background.

Oh, never knew "Moreno" translates like this

Actually, Moreno just means "Tan" or "Tanned" :p

It actually translates to "negotiator" or "dealer"
I honestly don't know what weird kind of translator he put the darn list through :D

What happened to Davide Badmeat. :D

Over here Rabobank means "B-U-T-T Bank", so I wouldn't laugh if I were you, Dutch individual person type guy :D

Thanks for refreshing my memory. I was partly suprised due to his lack of form so fare this season. this result indicates that he's on track again.
