seems like there was a gap of 2 seconds somewhere, so Freire should get the leader jersey anywayissoisso said:Valverde was 20th and there are no time bonuses. Does Freire get the jersey on average stage placings?

Moondance said:Really? 2 seconds? I wasn't looking but if there was a 2 second gap I think I would've noticed it... Don't know why the direction seems so bent on establishing these slight breaks in the peleton.

Means his lot get the day off and Rabo have to work on the Queen stage.
Bet Bobby G is chuffed.........not.

Oddly enough, the Saxo propaganda machine states otherwise:Dekker_Tifosi said:148º 112 SCHLECK, Frank LUX SAX a 12:39

Francesco Gavazzi Took Stage Three - Oscar Freire In Overall Lead
[07.04 17:59] The 187 kilometer long third stage of Vuelta Pais Vasco was dominated by five riders who formed today's breakaway on the fairly hilly course between Viana and Amurrio.
Stage three was decided in a bunch sprint and for the third time Oscar Freire (Rabobank) was one step away from taking the win.
Today, the three time world champion was denied by Francesco Gavazzi (Lampre). However, the fast Spaniard took over the leader's jersey from compatriot, Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne).
Team Saxo Bank's Fränk and Andy Schleck were both well-positioned in the front part of the peloton throughout the stage. Tomorrow's stage over 160 kilometers ends with an uphill finish on the climb of Alto del Uzartza and Oscar Freire (Rabobank) will have a hard time keeping the overall of the race.
