Dude, your one track mind might not agree, but I think in a TT like this Sanchez could do some major damage. Maybe not quite as much as Contador, but close.

Yes Sanchez can do some damage, but never like Contador can. And I think it will be hard for Sanchez to put some time on Gesink, because that kid is becoming stronger every year and he trains every week 2-3 times on his TT bike. I see him do that because his trainingground is here on the corner (the Posbank)

I'm not saying he'll push Gesink off the podium (I hope not ;)) but maybe another contender who's less prone to do well in a TT (say, Rodriguez). But let's first wait and see what happens today.

Contador put major damage into Evans (about 20 seconds), and then another big gap to the rest. Sanchez did some really good (winning) tt's, but he usually wins with a few seconds..
The difference won't be 1'40 like Contador/Rodriguez 2 years ago. Talking about a one track mind, you're not bad at it yourself either.

Because Rodriguez improved his TT this year,as was clear in his recent results, which you disregard in your comparison, and the TT features the Alto de Aia again, which suits Rodriguez the more..

OMG! Gavazzi is one of the riders who has been linked to the lampre "montova" doping affair and on the same day that is realeased he wins a stage!

My point is on the same day Lampre wins, former and current lampre riders are linked to doping. Surely that makes clear sense!

I give up.

here are the profiles for today's climbs and tomorrows, notice the profile for AIA, there is someone can post the graphics directly in this thread? I can only add the link.

You can often 'right click the image' and then 'copy image address'. Then go to the forum, click the little image with a mountain on top of your post-screen, before you 'submit reply' and then insert the address between the brackets.

In other words, the image address needs to be placed between "
"

hello everybody, tomorrow's stage is in Alto de Arrate, the mythical climb it used to be at Euskal Bizikleta, and now since Euskal Bizikleta and the Basque Country fussioned it's in the parcours as an unavoidable price to pay.

But, but, the stage of friday in Orio has two incredible climbs to Aia (the first one of friday also they pass at TT). Well, these climbs are super steep, around 25% at certain passages.

Aia is our Montelupone, I tried to climb last week with a 39 x 25 and I couldn't...

Both climbs are good for Purito Rodriguez and Gesink, not bad for Valv,

I know the TT parcours very well, since it's my area of training, and... it suits Valv and Sammy rather than Gesink and Purito, since there is also flat and technical downhill. BTW, Intxausti es the new Iban Mayo and he will be top 5 or top 3.

Thanks for the insight!

I had been curious about Intxausti so its good to see he's performing so well. What can we expect in terms of his race schedule and goals for this season?

I would agree, providing he's over his bad day. Now that, I'm not sure about.
He's also not quite as sharp as the other two, on the major steep stuff....

Intxausti was very good in the 1st stage. He is finally living up to the hype that was created a few years ago. Having a good season so far.

well, i cannot upload images, but you can see Aia's profile in the link I gave.

regarding Intxausti, he might do Tour or Vuelta, the main goal is continuing improving well, just as he might do in this race. He is among the international "Golden Boys" (born in 86-87)

According to the ticker (here):

KM 72 :14:57 La ventaja de los escapados sobre el pelotón ha subido a 4:05

The gap between the peloton and the escapees has increased till 4:05.

Otherwise known as the 5 mighty musketeers: Txurruka (5), Santaromita (54), Fröllinger (102), Fuglsang (117) y Pérez (144)

They still have 6 hills to climb, in other words, the stage hasn't even begun.

Live coverage has started. 68km to go, break has 2:50.... They ain't going nowhere.

Interestingly its Катюша and Lampre doing the work on the peleton. The Russians i get, but why Lampre is working is beyond me. Yes the have Cunego, and he's probably feeling good today, but the pressure isn't on them.

3.40 with 63km - this breaks isn't losing much and much of the rest of the stage is downhill ... the peloton looks like it's trying
- spooky this Universal Livestream with the sound of the helicopter/motors etc but no commentary!

It just doesn't make sense to sane people I guess :p

Gavazzi wins a stage on the same day it is anounced he is being investigated for doping. Seems ironic that it happens on the same day.

Makes sense?

I think everyone understands what you mean, it's just that everyone's definition of "irony" is different than yours, I guess.

Irony of Fate - The concept that the Gods, Fates, etc. are toying with humans for amusement by using irony. Beethoven's loss of hearing is a famous example; one would expect a composer to be able to hear his compositions, but fate denied him that ability.
