in all fairness- congrats to Horner- he was the favorite in this last ITT- and well timed to sort of boost the morale of the sponsors. Interestingly enough to see how the "non-leaders" of the Shack are the ones getting the results.
He most definitely was not.

Horner wont be allowed to upstage Armstrong during the Tour. Period.

i realise he's a better rider but still..

According to half the forum, including me. I never expected this.

Just look at Horner's past ITT results, nothing special there mate.

Bruyneel managed to turn a 13 minute loser like Levi 2006, into an embarrassingly easy ITT winner, by 2007.
So, Horner taking one that matters, by a few seconds, shouldn't come as a surprise, to anyone with an ounce of cynicism.

Indeed his TT performance is quiet surprising but from a 38yo guy you can expect this kind of improvements, isnt it?

Is he saying he never did so bad in a TT? I think he did.

I certainly wouldn't have picked Horner for today - what have his previous TT results been like?

So that's at least four Shack riders who can beat their esteemed leader against the clock, even if Machado reckoned that "If Lance had been able to participate today, I would have finished second," with regards to his win at Circuit de Sarthe.

TT formbook always goes out of the window when it's the final weekend of the race even on a classic TT course (which this definitely wasn't). Strongest rider wins. Valverde probably paid the price for those sprint wins on the first two stages when there were no bonus secs on offer

Valverde's answer to a question on the subject: He's improving with age like old wine, and I'd like to do so as well :D

Did he say that?

They must've had quite intense media training sessions.

Alberto in good form would've easily outperformed Horner.

Alberto in crappy form could have beat Horner, I was just joking:)
But still a great week for Chris.

Ah oke.

Indeed, never expected this from him. Though he was riding decent in the Giro last year before he crashed. Luckily for him this race was only six days.

He can just hope so, as he risks a 2 years suspension.

Horner, 39, suddenly becomes the uber trialist?

Biggest win of his career by far.

They are taking the piss again.

+1

what a bitter taste this race left.
A rider that never should be racing at the moment dominates the race from the start, and then suddenly a 39 year old rider turns into a super time trial specialist.

yeah, right..........

Yeah it makes no sense.

And I'll now bore you with the final Gesink update, he said the timetrial didn't went well, but expected that to happen after yesterday, he is happy though the form is good for Amstel.

Way to go Horner!

Finally one of the good guys win! All you haters are morons! Horner has worked his a$$ for years, always in someone else's shadow. Now with his team sick and years of motivation, he did it! Good job Horner, USA and The Shack!

Basque hats off (or on) to Horner, what a stellar ride... Never expected him to be that competitive. Oh well, at least the geriatrics haven't lost their magic... Squeezing Valv.Pitit till the last drop

I really enjoyed seeing Montfort, Peraud, Intxausti, Velits, heck even Jacobus Tweeterbird do well! Nice results for all of them :)

Unfortunately, Gesink was quite disappointing . First I thought he had punctured somewhere, because losing 1:06 on this profile... :(

Anyway, tomorrow PR!!! What a season...

see y'all tomorrow.

As some people have said before, tt skills had very little to say in this time trial, it came down to climbing ability and most of all form. That's why all the last guys peformed really well, even if they were not specialist, like Rodriguez.

So i don't see why so many questions Horners tt, he simply has the best form at the moment.
