Having watched the finish of all of the previous races, the finish is really unusually tricky for sprinters, and likely actually suits Gilbert quite well, as well as the noted Phinney/Farrar combo.

What's the lowdown on Farrar?
Nobody seems to know what his form is like, since he crashed out of the Vuelta.
Has he raced anything since?

If he hasn't, he'll feel the length of this race in his legs.

At least they are going at 45.5km an hour, faster than your average flat GT stage.

That is the break of course, Bunch closer to 44kmh.

if they leave things a bit later then there chasing of any attacks and of the break will be killing two birds with one stone. Chasing now means they will be working now to get the break and working later to chase attacks down.

they can always take it easy for a while and let the gap grow again. Most of the guys in the GB and German team know how to control a breakaway thx to their HTC/Sky/Garmin experience.

Seeing a Portuguese mechanic helping a Brazilian rider honestly made me feel happy for some reason.

erm... won the World Cup final in blue?

I'm not sure that answers my question. I was wondering why would Spanish teams use blue on their jerseys. If there's a hystorical reasoning in that. Nevermind

I wonder if they are actually responsible for it. Maybe some kind of agreement.

Statement of intent from GB and Germany maybe as added motivation for their respective riders to finish it off.

The finish line should be on one of the other climbs, it would of been 4 short little lumps but would of been better than that drag to the finish.

I don't think there is any, not that I know of anyway.

Now that you raise the question, why do the Aussies wear green? The Italians blue?

Aussies wear green and gold/yellow because they are our sporting colours.

btw, it is likely that australians will get tv coverage only for the final 40 minutes (possibly less) of the race because SBS starts their coverage so late.

I know that, my question is why green and gold?

Because it is the colour of the Golden Wattle, our floral emblem. At least that is what wikipedia says. They were also proclaimed as our national colours in 1984.

Who had the brilliant idea of placing the feed zone in the finish line???

why not, the speed actual here is uphill and therefore very low, and wont figure in the finish..

At least it is fairly fast. And Belgium not having to do it so can save their legs to do a lot later in the race

Possibly. Let's see if there's any from Brazil there. Although, agreement or not, that'd only restate Brazil's lack of commitment.

I think Kelly knows what he's talking about he's just not a good communicator, and sitting next to Harmon isn't exactly the best platform either. A lot of times you get the feeling he is agreeing or not saying anything just because it's easier that way.

Agree totally.
