Ok, then this also answers the "who is fastest, Farrar or EBH?" - debate. Or wait, it doesn't. EBH was third yesterday and obviously was more tired than Degenkolb today.
Funny, I thought you might say that. Just fishin';)
Lets just say it's 2-1 over the past couple of weeks.

Degenkolb wins!

Didn't I tell you he was faster than Hagen and would have won that other stage even if Hagen didn't puncture?

Jezus D_T, nobody else knew that.

Check the time stamp, kind of beats yours, but you don't hear me bragging about it.

That type of sprinter (Degenkolb - power sprinter) does get slower with age tho.
Just look at Boonen. At later age Degenkolb will be less of a sprinter and more classic rider. I predict that now already

I think it's already clear that he's not just a sprinter and will turn more to classics in later years.

HTC would be better of with Degenkolb then with Cavendish at the Tour

You're a funny guy!

There's a lot more sprinters on form at the Tour. Degenkolb can't beat all of them, yet. Cavendish is still the fastest sprinter in the peleton, and has every right to have full support at the Tour. Give Degenkolb a couple years, or maybe even send him to the Vuelta this year if you're in a rush! :)

A young Thor?

He looks a lot like a young Ciolek (including the same headbutting style of sprinting), but I'm not gonna hold that against him. ;)

Really impressive win again, Degenkolb already had a great season, but it looks like he's only getting started. Although he most likely won't be able to handle the distance, I really would like to see him ride the world championship this year.

Degenkolb can beat every sprinter and he can win uphill finishes. Just dump that British tomatocan. Nobody likes him anyway.

But let's face it, Degenkolb will soon be tempted by money and promises of a hair transplant and change to another team. Upon leaving HTC his ability to win will be long gone.

A) I'm not British, (or Manx)
B) If Degenkolb were their fastest sprinter, don't you think HTC would have him at the Tour. They don't yet, and that tells you something.

But it would be a waste leaving him at home in this condition.

Yeah Degenkolb does remind me of Ciolek with that headbutting. If he ends that way he'd better win as much as he can now. :p

Johnny is da man. :D

Ok, tomorrow there should win another nation or team, otherwise people will be even more upset with those very young and very old, but very successful German riders. lol

Who says that Germans have no sense of humour?
You'd have them rolling around the HTC team bus.

Keep 'em coming. More please. I guess your are the Cyclingnews comedy club warm up act, that the other guy was talking about.

Which stages could he win that Cavendish (who, in form, which he will be, would eat Degenkolb or any other sprinter alive on a flat stage) won't win? If there are any of these stages, who would you leave out of the HTC line up?

Tour is a totally different level, man, and John is very young. He still can learn from Cav.
Don't overdo or overhype things so much, bavarian. The true winner stays calm and humble, and doesn't startle the Pokemons.

In German we have a saying. "Man muss die Feste feiern wie sie fallen"

Let me get this straight.

You think Degenkolb can beat on form Gilbert, Voeckler, Hushovd, Evans, etc. on uphills.

AND you think Degenkolb can beat on form Farrar, Petacchi, Ciolek, Boonen, Cav, etc on the sprints.

I admire your tenacity, but it's severely misguided IMO.

Mr. Gilbert may have something to say about this.

The difference is though that Cav almost certainly WILL win 4. Degenkolb MAY have a slim chance in 9.
