Who would have thought two months or week ago Wiggins was going to win Dauphine. Credit to him !!

Its definitely great for him.

But this win will cost him any chance at Top-5ing the Tour, you do realize?

All I know is that winning the Dauphine isn't a great thing when your goal is to win the TdF. At least that's what I've heard.

I wonder what wattage EBH produced in his monster pull, must be quite high for someone that "heavy" (75 kg).

To avoid being too clinical in my analyses I will just say many riders that are "targeting" the tour seem to be riding without their gas tank being quite topped off.

Better for him to win Dauphine than get Top 5 in Tour imo. I want Uran to be given a go at Tour. Not Bradley anyway. Just happy for him to win something big.

Wiggins was never going to win the TdF this year and I am sure both he and his team know that.

This Christophe Kern dude doesn't exactly look like a featherweight either. Rides of the day, definitely.

Nice test for Gesink. Good form, not great. Perfect.

In the end it was quite a stupid ride by Evans. Yes, I am being critical of him. no need to really go that hard in the end. He really wasn't in the class of the best today and getting 2nd overall in the dauphine for a 4th time isn't going to change his career.

20% chance for 5th, with very little chance of better, vs a Dauphine win.

He's definately made the right choice.

Only 8 guys have done it:
Eight racers also won the Dauphiné Libéré and the Tour de France in the same year: Louison Bobet in 1955, Jacques Anquetil in 1963, Eddy Merckx in 1971, Luis Ocaña in 1973, Bernard Thévenet in 1975, Bernard Hinault in 1979 and 1981, Miguel Indurain in 1995 and Lance Armstrong in 2002 and 2003.

you can rate evans all the time because he's always at the same level. he's not a guy that can peak

I don't rate him as a big climb performer either, but you are judging a person based on losing time to someone they historically beat (Vinokourov) at a race where historically, people are showing up with different levels of form.

Yeah, possibly. But if he wins it will be the biggest stage race win by a British rider for over 20 years.
