In the end it was quite a stupid ride by Evans. Yes, I am being critical of him. no need to really go that hard in the end. He really wasn't in the class of the best today and getting 2nd overall in the dauphine for a 4th time isn't going to change his career.

Going in to the red isn't that bad every once in a while

This Christophe Kern dude doesn't exactly look like a featherweight either. Rides of the day, definitely.

Nice test for Gesink. Good form, not great. Perfect.

Very good ride by kern.

and yep, I'm excited by where gesink is at.

Wiggins was never going to win the TdF this year and I am sure both he and his team know that.

Oh I completely agree. Now listening to Eurosport for the last hour, you would think that this pending win sets him to win the TdF.

No one other than Purito of the favorites isnt peaking for France, winning the Dauphine isnt neccessarily bad for your chances, everyone is in the same boat Wiggins just has marginally better form and a time trial of 42km in a week race will always have a massive effect

Its definitely great for him.

But this win will cost him any chance at Top-5ing the Tour, you do realize?
How do you guys all know more about training protocol and periodisation techniques than experienced elite athletes with elite coaches and high tech equipment?

Thank you for pointing this out. I thought I was taking crazy pills.

wow purito owned everybody today its probably because he got the good form from the giro and is not riding the tour. Cadel was a fighter today, evidently his form is not very good. Its a good sign as he is preparing for the tour and he hardly raced this season with his last race being romandy. Anyway a 2nd on GC is very good for someone with mediocore form.

He had fine company in terms of epic fail ;)
There is no hiding lack of form on a final climb like this. I hope some of the bigger names that were not up front are building towards something. Wiggins did well to ride his tempo and didn't get baited by Vino in the final Ks. :D

If your boy Wiggans is top ten at the tour I will buy you a nice steak dinner (from Spain).

Great win for Quim, he is still one of the best in the world on his day.

Gesink putting doubts about his TDF preparation firmly to rest.

Evans looks unsteady but has plenty of time to put it right.

Wiggins is on track for the biggest win of his career, he even increased the gap to 2nd today. Lots of climbing tomorrow but none of it super steep and Sky look strong enough.

Indeed. Looking very good for Wiggo. He certainly earned it if he can keep nr.1 tomorrow.

That's for the larger non-cycling crowd. Not everybody watching is even half in the know.

thats kinda harsh but I guess he overestimated himself and made that tiny dig. But it didnt affect him too much in the end he just had mediocore form nothing you can do about it. After the light season and the tdf being ahead its not surprising. Anyway 2nd on GC is still pretty good even if its his 4th time.

1st TA
1st Romandie
2nd Dauphine

It just adds to a very impressive season.

Gesink was good. Just like we know him, constantly trailing but then jumping away at the last moment for a 5 second bonus. I wonder how much his passive riding of days past has influenced his performance.

JVDB looks better than in last years Dauphiné. Let's hope this is indeed due to his gained strength and not due to bad timing. He looks to be more comfortable with sudden tempo changes and has gained some explosivity.

Evans, i don't even see him as a podium candidate to be honest. Vino, Wiggins idem.

I think sky may be aiming for wiggo, ebh and G to hit first week in peak form and go for yellow, as it's clear those 3 are ahead in their form, with uran coming to form later to go for gc, or stage win (s) in mountains. Much better plan than aiming for top 10 with wiggo

Good stage, great attack from Purito, Kern for me ride of the day after the win yesterday, Wiggo doing well, to not only hold yellow, but increase his lead of Evans (!) by 15 seconds. One issue for Sky may be the fairly epic fail from Uran - brought in to be the main domestique for the mountain, first chance to test this and see how he could do, and EBH shells him! Nice win, and helps Sky in the WT rankings (getting the win here would, by my rough calculation, put them roughly 8th, ahead of garmin), and equally nice for GB for the nations ranking - they'll go ahead of the USA and Switzerland, but France should get just enough points between riblon and peraud in the overall, and kern in the stages to keep them ahead in 7th.

They do look like having their 3 most important guys for the TTT in good shape.

I don't think Uran lacking form is intentional, he just isn't feeling great.

I don't give a **** about Wiggins, I just find it amusing that the cyclingnews forum appears to be full of people who know more about training than people like Wiggins or Evans.

it was hardly an Epic fail from Uran. he has not been well last few days, so he did quite well to hang onto back of the lead group as long as he did. I don't think they will be too overly concerned.

I think he mostly hears the criticism that he always pulls on the front, and never just sits in and profits from others. So this refreshing
