will have to see how morabito, santamorita and moinard do today. the rouleurs have been doing ok but not the mountain men. Unfortunately moinard punctured yesterday so we couldnt see how he was doing. Im sure they will attempt to set a hard tempo today but we will see if its effective.

what do you mean mountain men?? these guys are no were near even subtop climbers. perhaps morabito but he's more inconsistant than the belgian press

Very difficult to predict what will happen on this stage. Gesink and Basso are obviously in training mode. Rodriguez wants a stage win and VDB has looked good. Evans did not look comfortable yesterday but then he never does. Maybe a French rider or riders breaking out early on which will suit Wiggins.

Will this stage have a eurosport stream online somewhere?

I've been watching the other stages on TV @ my girlfriend's house.. but I'm not there tonight

Are you not a bit excited at the prospect of Brad winning a race of this calibre? It might not happen but if it does ...

Yes, but i tend to go in expecting the worst, then anything better is a bonus. ;)

But, so often time trials decide races either by poor positioning (last stage of penultimate stage) or by there not being enough of a parcours for the non time triallers to get the time back. (which is my big issue with time trials in week long stage races)

This time its worked out perfectly, time trialler who can climb a bit, holding an advantage over the more natural climbers. If the riders ride as they should and put brad under pressure it will be a cracking race.

After the slight down of the giro, with contador destroying everyone this is a welcome relief.

Gesink in the break.. I thought he might sit in the peleton and then attack. I think this escape is likely to stay away. The fact Moinard is in the break means Evans is going to have a go.

It regrouped about 15 minutes before you said that, as per letour.com

Gesink trying to get into a breakaway? That really isn't reassuring. Seems like he doesn't even want to compare form with the likes of Evans, VDB, Brajko...

Nah, they might actually mark Gesink a fair but even if he isn't an overall threat. If he goes in the break he's more guarantee of going away and winning.

Garate (RAB), Finetto (LIQ), Martinez (EUS), Gautier (EUC), Trofimov (KAT), Casar (FDJ), Amador (MOV) and Seeldrayers (QST).

Seems to be the break of the day. Any speculations ACF? :)

That's not really my point. Is he really entering this stage trying to win the stage with a break, instead of trying to measure up to the "other favorites" for the tour? This leads me to conclude he is sure of himself that he can't compete (at this point) at all. Else, he'd stick with the other top guys. Anyone can win a mountain stage with a break, but for Gesink that should be of little importance in light of his tourprep.

I don't think that's his way of judging form, he's more a numbers kind of guy. He said he tried a few times yesterday as well.

Out to 2'15", so it's officially BotD now.

Anyone know the average speeds? Has to be close to 45kmh. Edit: 43.1kmh for the first two hours Edit2: Can't read Jens' post apparently :(
