Yeah no kidding, I couldn't make sense of it at all.

Anyway Boom confirming himself even more as prologue specialist. In longer time trials he is usually top 10 when in form as well so I look forward to that.

Damn. VDB2 beats Gesink by 2 secs.
thats normal, VDB2 has always been decent at prologues, last year and this year he missed the win in the ruta del sol Prologue by only a second, aside from finishing top 10/20 in nearly every short prologue / ITT.

But his long ITT's have been average or really horrible. Real test for VDB2 is in Grenoble.

Gonna be a tense stage. Hard to argue for a rider's tour itt if they do really poor here.

Very much a big indication to the tour stage, of course disregarding the fatigue from 2weeks+ of hard racing.

Seems like Wiggins peaked too early. Wit the form from the Bayernrundfahrt he should have done better today

Yeah, he's definately the TTer we're all looking at as an under-performer today.

To quote Basso: "I don't have bad form, I have no form"

The crash was quite bad and he hasn't been able to train properly in quite a while

Typhon crushed the hope of the poor little Italians in both the Giro and the Tour :D

Good ride by evans. Just needs to keep low and hang in there to do well in the GC. Basso serious epic fail!

 102nd place for Ivan the Terrible is terrible for him.
Not nearly so bad was Tony Martin, but not a great showing from him.

Ya, and nice ride by Cadel... Vino too. I hope (for the Tour's sake) Vino is really going well and not just targeting the Dauphine because he's not confident of his chances at the Tour. A lively Vino at the Tour will make for a more interesting Tour.

5th for Evans...reasonable.

it was already pretty good given as he cant be compared to the likes of boom in a prologue. Its a good platform for his gc chances. All he has to do now is hang with the favorites in the mountains and do a good TT to win the GC. Not that hard. Something like he did in TA and romandie. I believed cadel was capable of a top10 in this stage. Phinney would have had a better chance to win. Anyway tomorrow is another chance for evans to win.

Again, basso said he had no ambitions here, how could it be a fail. I mean be was only like 10-15 seconds behind gesink and Samu, not the end if the world for a guy just looking to build form.

That being said, i think he will struggle I'n the long tour itt, because most of the gc men are better ttrs regardless of form.

If his form is bad in all of the Dauphine than he can make a cross over his Tour de France already, it's that simple. You can't be too good at the Dauphine, but if you don't feel good at the Dauphine it's too late to improve for the Tour without any clinical material.

except that Andy Schleck is routinely mediocre at the Tour de Suisse and that for once, it won't matter at all if you're not in form until near the end of week 2, since as long as your TTT isn't dreadful (which it won't be, he rides for Liquigas), you'll be hard pushed to lose more than 90 seconds before Luz Ardiden.

Menchov was dropped from the peloton in the first stage of the Tour of Belgium last year. And he wasn't that great in the Dauphiné either. But his Tour went pretty well, I think.

Perhaps Menchov hid his form at the Dauphine. It's all about feeling good and not so much about the result. But since Basso has openly said that he's not feeling good, he's not hiding. This is his true form.

Agreed, Thomas and Boasson Hagen sucked as well..

With EBH coming back from injury, continuing to build form for the Tour, and considering the fact that it started to rain as he set off, I'd think it was a very sound decision to not risk anything on the technical course today. Still, 15 secs off the pace of Boom on a dry track isn't bad. Really.
