There's one picture predominantly in my head, but I won't post it. I'll post this one instead, so you'll know which one I'm hinting at. It's not a picture I would like to remember as one of the pictures of 2011, but the horrible crash images and the following silence of the commentators are still vivid in my memory. It's one of those images that's part of this past season.

I know which one your pointing at :(. And no! No one should post that!

On Danish Eurovision the commentators got all "No! They can't show this. This is wrong!" When those horrible images where broadcast far far too long.

I think the point is that that picture is very much one of the important pictures of 2011, but a picture that none of us would like to see. Likewise, there are photos of Soler on the floor after his crash, but I thought it better to post him after his win in Crans-Montana, because I didn't want to see those pictures again.

I avoided pictures of Soler (after his crash). I don't even know whether they are there, I never looked for them (well, I know now). But they are indeed important. When you show the good sides, don't close your eyes for the dark side.

Yes, too long. I dived for my remote and switched channels, but I still saw the most of it anyway. It was horrible to watch. Even the Belgium commentators didn't recognize him at first.

Those pictures are part of the season, but I never want to see them again. I hope Soler recovers well.

Couldn't find one with the riders. But this was the year during which riders were

And another one

Those were actually on the internet. Didn't make them myself.

And finally I found a real one. A little bit small though.

Are the pics you guys are talking about still in this thread or edited out? I never saw them as I was lucky enough to not be watching that day and I don't wanna see them but I do wanna see the other pics.

Nobody posted them. Both of us who've posted to do with the accidents in question have elected to post less depressing ones - we've had the simple black background Wouter Leopard-Trek tribute photo, and I elected to show Soler picking up the yellow jersey after winning on Crans-Montana rather than the aftermath of the crash.

Not the best in size but after Natnael Berhane upstaging Jérôme Pineau in the final stage of the La Tropicale Amissa Bongo (Tabo) 2011:

We honestly more victory celebrations where the winning rider of a stage is carried around on people's shoulder's.

Does anyone have the picture of Gilbert in drag getting bummed by Cav wearing the green jersey? Or is that just what the competition looked like on tv...?;)

What a terrific thread!
The photos are poignant, filled with emotion and all the reasons that I love cycling.
Libertine, those pix of Xavi and Mauricio are touching...knowing also how much those riders mean to you.

Thanks Jobiwan for starting this...
I can't stop looking at these photos. :)

Don't be surprised if Berhane turns pro in the next couple of years. He's training at the UCI center in Aigle and there has been interest from some pro teams, but they want him not to consider it until 2013 (IIRC).

Not to forget his rather interesting argument for staying. "It's still 25 fewer stitches than Johnny has..."

He reminds me of Shishio.
