Evans isn't clever enough to fake a mechanical.
He had a mechanical. He was in waaay too big a gear when Contador went, he nearly stopped dead on the spot because he couldn't drop down gears. Guessing it was a rear-derailleur issue.

No way that Andy should work with Contador here. The only way Andy can lose the tour is if he blows up, the only way he'll possibly blow up is if he works too much.
