Garmin big losers today, Danielson and Hes-J lose 1'55", CVV loses three minutes. Those guys needed everything to go right for them to have a shot at good GC placings, I think Garmin will struggle to put anyone in the top 10 now.

Uran caught behind the first crash. So much for your white jersey bet, Ryo.

Glad to see the race organisers getting it right this time. This makes the race MUCH more interesting. I hope Contador crashes again tomorrow.

Shut up fool, no-one crashed except for a spectator and it happened near the front.

Did Gesink do a very good job avoiding it? He was 10 cm away from the crash but got lucky. Sanchez was on the same row or the row behind him and he loses 1:20.

YEs LETS HOPE THEY ALL CRASH THAT MAKES IT MORE FAIR

Very good point, but since when has fair play been something paramount and unimpeachable in cycling, except in the fantasies of Andy Schleck's fans on stage 15 last year?

So what would be fair? Giving the second group the sam 6 seconds? But they made a mistake. How about giving them the 38 seconds or whatever it was they were behind the front group at the time of the seconds crash?

the first crashed group was stopped by the second, according to posters. Would that change the 3 Km rule?? I mean the first crashed group could have lost time because tof the second crash, which happened in the last 3 km....

Apparently they gave everyone that was in the first group after the crash +0.06 seconds. So also the people that didnt end up in the 2nd crash, but got dropped from the first group.
What a mess!!!!!

Stage 4 is considered an uphill finish but this one isn't. Doesn't look like there's really that much difference between the two.

under the circumstances it could be.

Though maybe ASO will be less willing with AC's ruling in mind.

That's a good point to emphasize, then the ASO will do exactly what you don't think they will.

all in all, this could mean for some aggresive riding in the mountains.

But I expect many changes still to occur..

Nervous times await.

Entertaining stuff also.

Almost forgot that part. ASO does NOT!! want to have AC lose this tour on the 2nd of August. Right or not that is pretty much their nightmare scenario, add that to the french public and I fear that fairness might not be the first thing on the judges mind.

Fair would be Contador serving out a suspension right now. Since he's managed to weasel his way out of that, I think he deserves every little bit of bad luck he gets in this race.

Mur de Bretagne is a Cat 3. Perhaps that's a difference.

First time ever that a tosser in yellow managed to take over a minute out of Contador on a finish.:D

Agree that the second crash guys have thrown a major spanner into the logic of the race rules.

They need to concentrate on Thor or Farrar for wins and green.

A lot of racing before Paris, the losses are significant but tbh it is only the first stage and their is plenty more racing.
