Thanks Tuarts and Fight The Power for the last 2kms. Seems a fairly tricky finish but seems like Cav and the boys have done their homework. If it's all about positioning then little doubt that Renshaw is the man for the job. Maybe some sharp elbows in the last km?

Tour de France fact:- more than half the umbrellas made in France are manufactured in Aurillac.

I'm think this is a Cavendish stage. For it not it really needs someone to go hard on the cat 3 and then make Cavendish work to get back on. I'm not sure anybody with interest is still strong enough (I'm thinking of Lotto).

Last time it was map fail and the description was right, so presuming the same here.

EDIT:

That looks like a very fast, narrow bend to the finish. If its just elbows at the finish then the riders should consider themselves lucky.

TJVG on twitter: Rain again!!! You gotta be ****ing kidding me

Should be interesting. If a break goes with risks and is all in, then they might have good chances.

Lafleur - there is a headwind today - with a fast stage such as this I would write off a successful breakaway completely . .

I like Breaks but not today I'm afraid . . .

Marianne Vos and Emma Johanson are coming to Vive le Velo tonight. Lol at the Dutch show "Avondetappe" can't get them to come to their show :p They have someone else coming from female cycling, though I forgot who.

And yes, hail! More chance for Cav dropping out then.

Here's a prediction for you. Once this lousy weather has passed there is going to be one hell of a heat wave. This will probably be the last wet day.

I reckon the peleton will be getting cooked in the mountains !

Now this is a noob question, so apologies.

BUT

You can pull out the stages that Cav will be going for pretty easy and then there are stages like today. You guys say its going to be a bunched sprint, now, how do you know this? Looking at the elevation data, what are you looking at?

El Pistolero - the hail would only affect Cav in the last few km which is 3.5 hours away and at least 100km further south - when did you know hail to be so widespread and last so long - duh

Tomorrow looks to be quite rainy. He is the forecast for the start and finish towns:

Thursday should be sunny though. And later today should be sunny and warm.

Few years ago in Belgium it hailed from Antwerp to Bruge once.

The bad weather conditions will get in everyone's legs no matter how far it is from the finish line. Especially since their will be a sudden change in the weather from bad to good in one stage. Some people cope better with that than others.

Like duh.

Would expect Geraint to be up the road, he said he would try today on his diary entry (Cyclingnews) and expects an attacking race.
