That will be interesting. 10 km from the summit to the sprint point, and I imagine if Cav is close enough, HTC will be in full leadout mode trying to bring phil back before the line.

I have to say I like the intermediates. Sprint teams do some work in the early/middle parts of the stages and adds some excitement to the early part of some of these stages.

I do think in the end it favors true sprinters chances at green.

The climb is 4k at 10%.

The 10k is a descent and a bit of flat, not all flat.

Cav doesnt stand a chance if Gilbert wants it.

Just signed on. Where do things stand right now?

A breakaway with Bak, Moncoutie, EBH, Hushovd, Pineau, Gusev, Fofonov, Roy, Pettachi and Tjallingi got away after 65-ish km and is about 6 minutes ahead at the start of the Aubisque. Breakaway seems to be breaking up itself now.

Rojas won the intermediate ahead of Cav.

probably will see a second Garmin take off from the peleton on the climb. Thor to get as much distance and then pick up the other rider

EBH took a while to get that diesel turning over but he seems to be going well now. A little behind Moncoutie, who is apparently only 14s down on Hushovd/Roy

Perhaps HTC would then try to get a break started early without gilbert in it. Get 10 up the road to make whatever points gilbert gets be immaterial.

In the peloton, tried to get away hard, but they didn't let him. And he messed up the sprint somehow apparently.

How much time can Hushovd take from Moncoutie, Roy, Boasson Hagen in the descent? It seems like he just wants to climb the fastest he can to stand a chance in the descent....

That makes sense. Interesting, though, how he is attempting to change himself as a rider (his having done this before notwithstanding).

EDIT: He's long been among my faves. But lately he is moving up on my list.

boring

there is no reaction in the bunch at all on this climb, which means that its more less sprinters day, although we should be by now deep in GC racing, 13 stages gone and only 1 mountainous stage so far, in Giro or Veulta we would have at least 2 or 3 mountain top finishes by now. So so boring racing, the deciding moments come from bad fortunes on crashes - Brajkovic,Leipheimer,Horner, Vandenbroeck,Velits, I dont like to Tour so far, does any one else agree with my statement?

Roy solo, Moncoutie catching Hushovd. If EBH and Thor work together after the climb they should be able to pull these guys back.
